Thought would start a thread, which we can add to each week/weekend of Kiwi horses racing overseas e.g. in Aus or USA or where ever. That yourself or others might have an interest in seeing how they get on. Must have a Kiwi connection.

Ill kick it off. Tonight racing at Ballarat Aus NZ time 11.05 is Spellbound. Group 3.

Believe this horse is still owned by NZ conn👀ections.

Go Spellbound!

Ps feel free to add to list. No need to stay on mute.

Believe Copy Thats connections are talking about heading over to Aus to race early next year.

Spellbound won last nite. Big win too.

Launched a mid race 3 wide move with approx a lap to go & stayed 3 wide without cover pretty much all the way til the winning post 👍

Congrats to the connections 🍾

Here is a write up on HRNZ about Spellbounds win. Also mentions Smaltese the 2y-o Sweet Lou fella, that I had mentioned on Karrots Midweekly Roundup. He set up an Australasian 2y-o record of 1.50.4 while leading after his BIG fast trial run. Only to be nabbed by My Ultimate Ronnie. Gee hard to find a TOP LOU for Karrots when you run that FAST yet still get BEAT! Both qualify for Breeders final. While Spellbounds will head to a G1 at Melton in a couple of weeks.

FYI - Amazing Dream - Spellbound - Bettor Twist make an appearance Sat at Geelong. But kept apart by trainer N Purdon. Check-In also races at Geelong for Kiwi owners R10.

The Dream in G2 has drawn the pole & 1 of her opposition is ex Kiwi Tango Tara. Spellbound in G3 has drawn 2nd row. Bettor Twist drawn 2nd row in a 3y-o fillies race. Check-in draws 1.

Last nite results no winners, but some place getters

2nd Amazing Dream - nice run - tried leading the whole way, last quarter 26.9 but 1 horse went past her. Much better drive I thought, not so aggressive running legs off her.

2nd Bettor Twist - nice run, winner had easier run in lead while Twist sat outside leader. She stuck on well.

Also ran both Spellbound & Checkin with Spellbound having a vet check after race as per stripe report. Did seem to be a little amiss seemed to maybe pace roughly in the 2nd 1/2 of race.

Think both Amazing Dream & Spellbound head next to ladies G1 against each other pending nothing has changed after last nights runs.

A horse of note are in today with a NZ interest, owners and trainer. ONE OVER ALL nz.

After his last start win at Addington , Canterbury Trainer Gavin Smith has whizzed over to Victoria to try and win the Victoria Trotters Derby !!! hope he can do it.

The three Derby heats are run today at Maryborough in country Victoria , Amongst an incredible 10 race program for Trotters only !!

Gavin electing to put local Champion Driver Greg Sugars on too. A great move IMO to get the local track knowledge. Also in that heat is a former kiwi from Cambridge that you would know Karrots, and drawn the One alley . MUFASA METRO nz . unbeaten with 2 wins in Aus for champion trainer/driver John Justice.

Has Kiwi Quinella written all over it ???? all going well.  Race 7 today at 4.15 nz time ? (guess of that racetime)

Results a bit late, Musfasa Metro placed so thru to final.

One Over All "also ran" unfortunately

Thinking def need a plan B and maybe even a plan C when taking horse overseas.

Have been checking to see if Sugar Me if has been exported out of Aus to USA or back to NZ, but not yet. So will keep an eye out to see when/if he starts again in Oz.

Results. A quinella to N Purdon with the Amazing mare Amazing Dream can lead as she LEAD ALL the way, to win from her fast finishing stable mate Spellbound to take another G1 Glory.

Well Lightning,in another G1 the Len Mile, Line Up finished down the track. BUT noted Spirit of St Louis, still has the odd Kiwi owner T Casey. So will include his result. Nearly a G1 for him BUT the line came approx 5 metres too soon as he flashed down the outside from the 3 back outer position to pass his favoured stablemate Expensive Ego who had the 1-1 to finish 4th.  With a $81 shot taking the G1 glory The Black Prince ahead of ex Kiwi Alta Orlando another with Kiwi owners as Lightning pointed out in R Dunn finishing ONLY a head away in 2nd.

A head & a head ONLY divided the 2nd from 3rd place and again a head from 3rd to 4th place!

In other news in G1 2y-o boys NSW breeders final Sweet Lou smarty Smaltese was left parked after going hard out the gate but also going hard was My Ultimate Ronnie who crossed him. As soon as he got the lead, his stablemate & fav pressed on to lead & he handed to stablemate My Ultimate Byron who had started from complete outside front row. BUT with the early burn it cost them ALL. And a swooper Tims a Trooper at $41 came over the top. Good one Trooper 👍 Teach that stable driving ha.

N Purdon with the Amazing mare Amazing Dream

Takes the 'Queen of the Pacific ' Group 1 last night, and thoroughly deserved. In the past year Amazing Dream has taken Aucklands biggest race the Auckland Cup, plus 2 more Group 1's in Brisbane in the winter beating Copy That there as well, and on to Melbourne for more Group 1 glory. What a absolute Star of the track.

'Tim's a Trooper' sent down from QLD for that Group 1 win, so that was nice to see for Grant Dixon. upsetting the 2 very quick 'Ultimate' stablemates of Jarrod Alchin.

Alchin won the 150k fillies final with 'Madrid' ,to make up for the 2nd and 3rd in the boys anyway. 'Madrid 'driven by a junior driver Cameron Hart .great to see the youngsters mixing it with the big boys like McCarthy Stable every race now. Kiwi lad Jack Trainor also taking out a Group 1 3 year old final last night,

and young junior drivers Jack Callaghan and Joshua Gallagher getting heaps of drives and both placed in the GROUP 1 FFA . Jack drove 'Alta Orlando' for the Dunn's. Don't worry about LINE UP karrots. never saw daylight with 'worse drive of the night award' to old Binskin. Any driver I mentioned already would of done way better.

So Menangle the best place in Aus or NZ , giving the junior drivers a go , at all levels of racing , and they are right in the money. McCarthy not so dominant now.

Just love seeing the young drivers getting established, like Dexter and Anthony Butt both had the opportunity to do in NZ , and look what they are doing now !!!! brilliant.

The great NZ driver ANTHONY BUTT after the Group 1 win with Amazing Dream last night ,also has Won the prestigious G1 Victoria trotters Derby today .

Ant's was driving nz bred 'Kyvalley Hotspur' (by Muscle Hill) to victory for ex-pat kiwi trainer BRENT LILLEY.

Brent (a fabulous trainer of trotters) quinellaed the Derby. ! quite an achievement . with Aldebaran Zues driven by Chris Alford.

3rd Place in the Derby,  went to the NZ trotter who ran 2nd in the Cambridge Jewels named 'Mufasa Metro'. A great Nz flavour right through the trifecta.

Yes Anthony Butt guided Amazing Dream to an easy win , nice run from Spellbound for 2nd also,

Which means congratulations to Nathan Purdon a Group 1 quinella.

Did anyone see Mach da Vinci winning Race 1 @ Albion Park?

Always been a good horse and seemed to enjoy the atrocious conditions the race was run in!

That is HEAVY rain. We have these very quick tropical burst concentrated storm cells in Brisbane/Gold Coast throughout the Spring and Summer.

I live exactly 10km from Albion Park and didn't even get a drop. dead true. Commentator could barely make them out for this race.

What a good horse that MACH DA VINCI is ! The group 1 winner in this race ran last , unable to match him . Also Smart former Nz horse 'LL COOL J ' of Herlihys was only 4th. He has 8 wins from 15 QLD too.

Photo shows Mach Da Vinci clearing out to win by 6 lengths as they turn for home in the torrential downpour.

Lightning do you want to take over this thread with a once a week update & then result. Letting us know whom the Aussie - Kiwi connections starters are, or even races horses that we should look out for. You are much more in the loop than me on Aus racing.

This weekend Bettors Twist draws poorly again for Breeders heats while Lifes a Beach draws well & has settled in well. A couple of articles up on HRNZ re these runners.

You are doing great job !!  Champion filly 'Bettor Twist' you have spotted this week , am sure of big interest to many in NZ .

That Nathan Purdon Group 1 quinella (Amazing Dream + Spellbound) was top notch 'supreme' last week too. lots of kiwis getting the 'Job' done !!! how good is it ?

The BETTOR TWIST and the AMERICAN DEALER both placed in the Breeders CROWN Heats tonight at Bendigo. (from back row draws for Anthony Butt and N. Purdon)

But it was the trainer 'EMMA STEWART' Show yet again, winning 5 of the 6 heats. ( including a trifecta and 2 other quinellas ) Amazing stuff. 10 horses placed .

That's better than ALLSTARS level really.

KARROTS would love the support given by EMMA to all the lady drivers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

KateGath, JackieBarker, KerrynManning , JodieQuinlan and RebeccaBartley all getting an Emma Stewart drive !! in those big races and all running places !! awesome.

This week , let's have a look at the Group 3 at Albion Park tonight.

A few ex-kiwis and I can give you a clue how much the very FASTEST horses in Queensland can earn in prizemoney in Brisbane. (it's tough going)

remember ,These are the Best we have racing, they have ALL won 5-6 races each this season  (Calender year 2021) from between 15-25 starts each this year.

except COLT THIRTY ONE who has zero wins this year from 12 starts . A cruel abnomily , as he was the 'Superstar.' his 5 x 2nd placings earning just a paltry 25k.

The rest have earned a mere 50-80 k each this year? from those 5 wins that each has had.

Very very POOR IMO , as these are the best fastest horses racing in QLD  (inc Auckland Cup winner TURN IT UP who you all might remember)

DEUS EX undefeated as yet and winning easily so far. Suzanne Herlihy's horse LL COOL J has impressive record too.

At the local metro Brisbane 'gallops' race for $42k winner/ $15k for second every race. Any galloper with 5 city wins like this field, would have near $1/4 mill for the year.

MACH DA VINCI came from near last (not needing any torrential rain this time to win) the above race in 1.52. in a 'stunning' performance from that awkward barrier draw.

Meanwhile, EXPENSIVE EGO (Luke McCarthy) won from the outside barrier at Menangle by 4 lengths in 1.48.7 for the mile !!!!!!  Outstanding speed performance.

Just hard to believe how hard and fast these horses are going????  quite incredible. Would of been great to see Expensive Ego in the NZ FFA.
