pete
This is interesting from LoveRacing. Bear in mind that Pukekohe was a Heavy 10 this morning. MEETING NEWS Avondale Track Update – 31 October Around 20 horses galloped this morning (Monday) at Avondale in the presence of both an NZTR representative and the RIB. Both groups were very satisfied with how the track played. This was endorsed by senior rider Craig Grylls who suggested the track was in the Soft5 range after considerable rain over the weekend. An official penetrometer reading will be taken and provided this afternoon.

Hesi
All a bit of a joke A premium meeting, with good stakes and good fields will be run on a known bog track, 50 minutes away at Pukekohe, probably with wholesale scratchings, when it could have been run on a reasonable track 20 minutes away in Central Auckland, with few scratchings. That's parochialism for you.

Not sure how many here have ever run a major event like Melbourne Cup day but if they wanted a guaranteed financial disaster then you try and shift the meeting to Avondale on 3 days notice. It is not turnover that underpins this type of meeting like it did back when you were wearing short pants!!!
Hesi
No, I was pointing out the futility of the meeting not being scheduled for the Avondale track in the first place
Blind Squirrel
Would you seriously consider attending given the state of the facilities when that is where you will make money from the massive hospitality opportunity the day provides>
