  2. I'm picking Bensons Mate is perhaps missing the fresh air of Woodend Beach a just a smidgen. Afterall, horses can be funny like that 😉
  3. Was an interesting run today. Straight to the lead (uncontested), set own terms in front and got beaten by the horse in the trail.
  4. R1 8 R2 7 R3 8 R4 4 R5 7 R6 2* BB R7 4 R8 5 R9 3 R10 10* BB Many thanks.
  5. Thank you Karrots for correcting me, I was incorrect on the mobile starts issue for Bossmaro, but I wasn't too far off the mark. Just goes to show what a remarkable young trainer Cam Jones is. It's really positive.
  6. I should also add: 1. The removable deafeners were not removed as the driver said he felt he had the field covered. 2. The stipes questioned Cam Jones on the horses improved performance. He replied by saying the horse was unsuited on the tight turning track previously, and had drawn benefit on a larger track today. 3. In my opinion based on that Winton run, Bensons Mate is either going straight to Open Class, and/or will be sold to Menangle very soon.
  7. 54 Starts, 15 wins, 8 seconds, 2 thirds and a UDR of 0.3724. Great stats, but exceptional for a rookie trainer. When Bossmaro was for sale earlier this year, it was claimed that he was not well suited to shorter trips (eg. 1980m), or mobile starts; the most popular races in Canterbury. Bossmaro was sold and transferred to the Cam Jones stable. Bang. Bang. Bossmaro's first two starts for his new trainer, over the 1980m distance resulted in wins. So Happy, you may be on the money! The best horseman in NZ and possibly a miracle worker. As for Bensons Mate... If anyone hasn't seen the race from Winton, have a look and check it out.

  9. $100 multi (all top 3, except Self Assured to run top 2) to return: $718.89 R3- 7 Cyris ($1.35) R4- 12 Regal Attire ($1.35) R6- 5 Shan Noble ($1.10) R7 - American Pride ($1.35) R9 - Muscle Mountain ($1.70) R10- Darling Me ($1.25) R11- Self Assured ($1.25)
  10. A very short memory indeed haha thank you!! What a horse.
  11. Which makes me think, who was the last horse to lead all the way, or pretty much all of the way in the trotting Cup? Self Assured when pretty close to it last year. But has any horse just got to the front straight away and just stayed there to win? Neil Brady. Whatever happened to him lol
  12. I think, or at least I'm pretty sure, it is the horse in front, the first time past the winning post.
  13. Or do the ole hand up to something that is dead set wanting the lead at all costs (more likely just wanting to find the marker pegs, than the actual lead), to then immediately go around that horse, and take the lead again. This scenario often plays out at the start of a race, my man B Orange is a master of it.

    Riot And Rose

Riot and Rose - Starting in race 7 at Flemington today. Big field and drawn 20 so will require some luck, but I still like the odds on offer here at $4.80 and $2's. Hardest to beat will probably be Bermadez, an easy last start winner by 4L.
  15. What the f@*$€n hell is the draw doing, coming out of a Commodore 64 computer?! Oh wait, is that Addington? Yip. Ok cool. Understood.
  16. 1- 1,2,3 2- 2,4,6 3- 3,7,8 4- 1,7,9 5- 4,7,11 6- 1,4,7 7- 1,2,3 *Double Up 8- 1,5,6 9- 9,13,14 10- 6,10,14 Jockey: Craig Williams Have a good day everyone.
  17. I think there will be even more social media banter if runs down the track, tails off hopeless. Almost a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. I really don't know what sort of performance to expect from it on Monday. "Market best guide?"
  18. That was my immediate thought too. Should be held at Riccarton.
  19. Just don't tell that to the Swedes lol
  20. Just taking it back to the original post, and thread, if I may. Crystal Daytom. ($2 Final Field). Just another thought on this, and punting in general. What is the single most important reason as to why one places a bet? Is it because one wishes to donate to the TAB? Is it because one has too much money in their TAB account, wallet, or purse, and they wish for it to be lighter? Is it because they wish to do their part and prop up the industry? Afterall, some (not all) argue that the punter and their money, is the most important person in the industry. Or is it that one enjoys a dollar each way or a gold coin on a nag, and they see it as their entertainment? Or is it because one thinks that their "investment" on a certain horse is a good bet, having weighed up all important aspects and considered them, and their perceived likely outcome of the result? To the extent that they will drop a couple of grand on a 13 start maiden, which has never shown any form or promise? It just doesn't add up, to me. Or have I missed something? I suspect I have. I probably don't know why it deserved to be a $2 shot on Monday. When the only factor that has changed is the horse's trainer. I will have to take note of the trainer in future. Man, he must be good. I can only see the change in trainer being the reason as to why the flood of money, big money, arrived for this horse. Crystal Daytom I suspect will soon become (if not already), the most watched maiden in the country, with all eyes on it, next start. Then the eyes will turn to the tote. "Market best guide."
