Rees. you're not hitting your straps mate ? 😉

Pete missed my winner in the second and managed the last two quinellas.

Jolimont, how good was he LB ,and you would be smiling after the trot race , Aussie 1-2-3-4.  and I feel a bit aggrieved for Self Assured, just getting trapped the last couple of races and climbing all over them at the end.

  3. Cambridge  12-4-24

R1  8   Pandora         (Wide but has the ability to win this)   Stopped like it was shot. -------

R2  10  Lovemeagain   (Has always looked good)                                                          3rd

R3    4  Betta Prepare       ( Good draw and Donnelly factor)                                         -----

R4  9   Diamonds Are Forever   (Hoping to get a drag through on the pegs, good enough)   -----

R5   1   Vessem                 ( Top field but drawing the ace gives him some hope )                2nd

R6  8  Muscle Mountain     ( Aussies are good but he is better)                                 Disappointing finish by the Kiwis.

R7  5  Faith In Manchester  ( Running good races of late, live chance)                Broke up but finished well ----

    R8  9  Jolimont                   (Mark up and 25mtr start on RP)                                     1rst    $2.50

R9  10 Self assured           ( Gets the right run up to winning this)               Still waiting for some luck in running.

    Wins 1   2nds 1   3rds  1  Total Spend $90   Return  $25  Loss $65

    Total Races  160    Wins 37  2nds 23  3rds 28

    Total Spend $1432     Return  $1154    Loss $278

  4. Karrots ,he should be close tomorrow against that class of horse over 2700, and I would be surprised if he wasn't fighting out the finish. Jolimont will be interesting with a 1rst stand start, but if he gets away cleanly he should by all accounts be fighting out the finish as well.

they didn't even bother putting Self Assured in it (NZ Cup) last year , and so he Won the Nz FFA on Showday instead 3 days later , to defend his crown in that race which he did at great odds too for the 2nd year running. Hat-Trick in Nov ?

I wouldn't put it past him winning again. He is a super horse who very rarely puts in a bad run.  Sixty nine starts , sixty times in the money, thirty wins , beaten all comers in Aussie and here since he was a 3yr old , over just about all distances.  In my time he is one of the best to stick his head through a bridle.

  6. Ok guys back to topic, before it ends up in a slanging match. We all have experience in the Industry in some capacity, so let's agree to disagree.

I will frank this with the knowledge of having a son in law who broke in horses and trained some top horses. Having watched him, I am sure like most, he would be apoplectic with this guys methods.

Even handed the trotting blokes a 'hammering' in the last trot comp ( a feat he is likely to repeat this Friday on that form )

Shaaadup.!!! That was pure fluke as he would even admit. But then we both know how fickle Harness results can be. Some nice Aussie representation on Frid and they will no doubt attack the front as always in true Aussie fashion , so won't die wondering. 👍

The million dollar word. The very first thing you think about before any major earthworks or laying of turf. It defines the end product. JMHPlumbersO.

a result of galloping away & settling miles off leaders

Yes, but settled on the fence quite quickly and did nothing the whole trip  as the others all went around and tried to get nearer. He was entitled to have a sprint left after that cushie run and most of the others were tiring by then.  He will have to step, otherwise he is toast.

    Lightening - Jollimont

I very much doubt you will see Jolimont in the Cup ,LB. Only lightly raced, a 5 win horse  and still a 4yr old. Four year olds don't win the Cup often, only 8 since 1976 have, and some of them have been outstanding. Jolimont has a way to go yet, but will be a stronger horse as a 5yr old.  Millwood Nike  ???, has only won once past 2200, another 4 yr old and a mare, and only Mainland Banner can lay claim to that as a NZ cup winner as a 4yr old mare. Has the sheer brilliance and ability though.

Well we missed out too but pretty proud of my team in the second half of the comp.

We gave it a nudge Nigel, so close after a poor start. What could have been. Been an interesting comp and again a pleasure to play in a very accomodating team ,and a wonderful job from Captain Pete.  Maxi sent a shiver through my spine with a big total against P Pete, but I hung onto first place with $4120. Do I get a choice of color for the Cap , PJ ????.
