Talk about a raw deal for punters

Bit of a Thommo style thread, this one

Here is the bit about Avantage in the NZ Herald on Mon morning

"Another high-class mare who definitely won't be in the Windsor Park Plate in Melody Belle's stablemate Avantage, who had to settle for second to Hello It's Me after her return race didn't go to plan at Ruakaka.

"We have plenty of options with her but the Windsor Park isn't one of them," says Richards."

If Avantage definitely won't be in the Windsor Park Plate, why do the TAB still have her in the futures market at 12's.  I guess the answer is, she is still nominated, so why is she still nominated if she 'definitely' won't be in the race.

Not unusual with betting operators. Happy to take the money off punters at no risk.

Really? I think it's caveat emptor like all the rest of punting on horses.

Yep. It's the same betting peer to peer pre final field. There will be heaps taking what they can off runners not going to a race. I've done it ample times. You still carry the risk the trainer changes their mind. And I can assure you, they sometimes do.
