PWJ Posted July 26, 2022 Share Posted July 26, 2022 ROUND 5 Sat Jul 30 Meetings will be Te Rapa, Rosehill & Morphettville (subject to change) Please post two selections for each race listed below with one best bet in NZ and one in Oz. Any scratchings must be replaced by yourself up to one hour before race 1 or by your team Captain up to 30 mins before race 1. After that all selections are locked. From now on I will be strictly adhering to closing times so Captains stay alert. Just 3 rounds remain and there are still 10 Joker plays awaiting - 5 regular and 5 Triple Jokers. So plenty of fireworks to come. The Ramones and Reapers separated by just one place on the table and less than $16 aggregate but the elephant in the room is the 7 point advantage the Ramones hold over Hesi's crew. Last week I predicted these two teams to upset their higher placed opponents and so it proved. This week I'm labeling the Reapers to go back-to-back and bridge that gap with a Triple Joker play. Also tipping a rampant Wolf Pack to not only play a Triple Joker but to down the low-scoring Puppet Masters. More Moet's good form may come unstuck when they hit The Drink! - sure to be a boozy affair but not sure we will see any Joker plays. Lastly the woeful Wily Wombats won't get much peace up Schitt's Creek trying to dig out a burrow or two however the Creek crew would underestimate the furry fellas at their peril. Expecting a Joker play from the Creekies for sure. Only No1 Plumber, Our Maizcay, Stevie N, Roland and Steve P are unbeaten after 4 rounds while Gee, Smiler & Secret Squirrel are seeking to break their ducks (or some other waterfowl - Pukeko maybe ??) on Saturday. N.B. Otaki already abandoned so fingers crossed for Te Rapa. If Te Rapa is abandoned or less than 3 comp races are run then the balance of the races will be run at Muswellbrook (Bengalla Cup day) on Sunday in lieu of no NZ meeting. Although it's Winter I have given the jumping races a miss this week so we can have some larger field sizes. The Midways/Highways in Sydney will present a formidable challenge early in the day. The last from Adelaide has about 12 winning chances including no less than "Magic Max" ! Selections Close off at 12.20pm (NZ time) Races are: 1. Looking at PJ's stats I see that Our Maizcay has one of the highest aggregate dollars scored against him 😒 ... and yet is himself 3rd on the 'Magnificent Seven list . . . and is one of only 5 players in the comp undefeated to date in personal match-ups ! Great stuff, skip ! 🙂 Ably backed up in the team by in particular the always formidable Steve P, also undefeated to date. Yep, she's gonna be a hard row to hoe for the Wily Wombats this Saturday . . . especially if I can exceed my $36 scored in my match-up last Saturday ! 'twas a shocker.
