  1. I agree about the response. Excellent whether you agree or disagree. And very prompt. Big thumbs up to Mary. Nice to think that there are some at NZTR doing a competent job.
  2. Agree with Pete here. Delayed and then edited vision of reality is not very transparent for mine.
  3. I've visited Peter in Oz Hesi, albeit a long time ago. Had a few drinks with him in Ky too, maybe dinner. Another life. He gets around though, so it's only a skip and a jump for whitebait in Foxton on Friday.
  4. Feel free to join barryb and I on Friday morning before the Otaki races. Should have them on the barbie around 8 am. I don't sprinkle dead weeds on top of them though either.

    Foxton

This is encouraging from the Final Venue Plan. Central Region Awapuni attendees stated they were looking for leadership and positive direction from NZTR. RACE indicated their door was open to talk to any club about what might happen in the future to grow racing in the region. Suggested a small group come together to talk about what shape things could take in the region, with Foxton utilised – RACE, Foxton, Levin and Otaki need to talk.
  6. Oh....I don't do the ciabatta with 3 butters. It's a loaf fresh from the oven Friday morning. Margarine for barryb's diet. Maybe a bottle of Proscetto to wash it down.
  7. Try it. Much more juice released and it doesn't cool the fish. You can just heat it in the microwave for the same effect.
  8. I do them HQ viaduct style with burnt lemon if that's ok?
  9. I have a few kilos in the freezer. Could we get a bbq and a few eggs?
  10. Do we not get lunch or breakfast or something included in that? Or could we for a few extra bucks? Just a free? drink and a ride in a golf cart?
  11. It won't let me change it anyway!
  12. That's a good point. It made me think that I never hear from them either. I've only probably had a dozen or so bets a year with them for years, though more lately. It made me go in to see if maybe they had a now defunct email address, but no, all contact details up to date. I did notice that I have the 'can we contact you?' box blank. That's may be why. I might give that a tick and see what happens.

Yep. The whole process is disordered.

Probably depends on the length of the lease? Some are in perpetuity I think. Or the lessee could own the buildings and other infrastructure.

Perhaps a site like this could take the media initiative and invite Saundry to answer those hard questions with supporting hard data. How hard would that be?
  17. I agree Hesi and particularly with Mardi's alienation comment. These strategies and the way they are being brought about just push people into fight or flight mode. Then they complain about the lack of cooperation and collaboration. The DIA RIA noted the lack of consultation with respect to the land business, especially in light of wide ranging dissenting comment in response to the Messara report. It would be hard to write a better recipe for disaster.
  18. Yes. Both those strategies are a complete waste of time, energy and money, quite likely for no net return to the industry. That they are proceeding with the land business despite the warnings from the DIA with respect to the legal implications is just nuts. The PoC tax likewise when the predictions are that there may well be no net gain or a possible net loss. And as you point out Mardi, there can be no gain unless it somehow inspires punters to lose more or increases the customer base both of which seem highly unlikely propositions to me.
  19. I think that's arguable and not how I saw it. It appeared to me that most of that time BLR moved out as Taroni did but was never pushed out or its line taken except at the point of contact. If BLR moves out as Taroni does, the space between them is fair game for either horse to use I think.
  20. While VvD's comment is fair, that's speculation about a situation that didn't exist. You could also say had that been the situation that Taroni may well not have run out with a horse inside it obscuring its vision of the post etc.and run straight, winning even more comfortably.
  21. Yes, I completely agree PJ that the JCA should still have interviewed Sam not just accepted Mr Ellis's statement. It's bizarre.
