  1. I also have Qafila and Wolfe at some value. The other two to consider for me are Gold Mount and Rostropovich. I have some respect for Mer de Glace as well but also find it challenging to price. Not sure that there is any value there. Overall my confidence levels are not high on this and I'll likely pass the race.

  3. The authority referred to was Costa Rolfe Source: Winners Of The Melbourne Cup by Costa Rolfe (Foreword by Bart Cummings) Quote: Page 148 " Spearfelt's reputation as a "ladies-man" would only be furthered upon retirement, a highly prolific stud career seeing the stallion named Australia's leading sire in 1943.
  4. You may be right Peter. However an authority on these matters on another site suggests that Spearfelt which won the Melbourne Cup in 1926 was leading sire in 1942-43 ? That concurs with my checking and would make him the last to do that double.
  5. True but not the first and last to do so, right PWJ?

    Weigh In 13 October

Yeahhh well I thought Mick did a decent job of trying to get some answers out of Deano which were not forthcoming and seemed to get deflected with the jigsaw metaphor. Mick seems convinced that there will be 30-40m coming on stream anyway mainly from Racefields and the BUIC. Not sure why he is so convinced about that. Given the suggested collection costs and the fact that this has to all ultimately come from punters' pockets, I just don't see it happening aside from the existing taxpayer contribution. I have no idea where his $200m target figure comes from. That's surely a pipe dream in the foreseeable future?
  7. That's your answer to all my questions ! Who trained him in the US after Charlie?
  8. Yip. Who rode him in the Eddie Read win at my all time favourite track?
  9. Why do you think she couldn't produce a slipper winner today PJ?
  10. How much did you have to put up to get naming rights for that mardi?
  11. Cripes that has to be megabucks!
  12. Yeahh saw that. Still might go on to Melbourne? Have to say that I really appreciate this thread mardi. Has given me a new perspective on the MC and the global lead up shenanigans.
  13. Assume you've checked your internet speed?
  14. Bohemian Grove ran in a claimer at his last start in the US. Who rode him?

I fail to see how the quality of the video feed can be the problem, when what is presumably the same feed is working fine on DUKE. I had the Namibia Italy game on and it seemed fine but round the time I got the above email it just froze up. I'll take the 15% refund in the mean time anyway!

You may have experienced some disruption while watching last night’s RWC 2019™ match between New Zealand and South Africa. This happened because of fluctuations in the quality of the video feed from our overseas partners and as a result, we decided to switch live play over to TVNZ DUKE. Here’s some important information about how to watch RWC 2019 tonight and how to go about getting a refund if you were unhappy with your viewing experience last night. What happens for tonight’s matches? While our team has been working hard to fix things, in order to provide all our customers with the best viewing experience we will show all RWC 2019 matches this evening on both Spark Sport and free-to-air on TVNZ DUKE - channel 13 on your TV or Sky channel 23. Please note, no matches will be available through the TVNZ website, TVNZ OnDemand app or Freeview Smart VU. If you were unhappy with your viewing experience on Spark Sport for last night’s match between New Zealand and South Africa, then Spark Sport is offering the choice of either a partial refund or alternatively, a full refund if you wish to cancel your Tournament Pass. If you wish to take up one of these options, please complete this form by 11:59pm on Sunday 29th September. All customers are always welcome to contact Spark Sport about any other issues they are experiencing on the service in relation to other matches and we will work through their options on a case by case basis. It's bizarre. Just tried the highlight clip. Now in places the audio is ahead of the video. Referees whistle awarding Bridge's try goes while he is still a step away from the try line. I think they have some problems alright. See what happens tonight.

You too? Thought it was just our slow rural broadband. We had the audio delayed about 10 secs from the video in the second half. Not that I wasn't tempted to mute the commentary anyway. Ended up switching to Duke though.

Yep, I actually spotted that a couple of days ago when I was setting up Spark Sport and Chromecast for the Cup games. No mention of racing in the drop down sports menu. No announcement I've seen from the TAB. Weird.
  20. Aren't those the fundamental objectives of the Racing Act (2003) which the NZRB is constituted to implement?
