PJ, I have realised that when I went to replace the Kings Brook scratching I replaced the wrong race. There are only 10 runners in R7. (R8 is wrong but i can go with the sub on that one. If Rob does not object can I have my originally picked 1 & 7 please ?

They say that betting on the TAB is down... well a whole lot... I sat down after lunch and saw that Doomben R1 was soon to start. It is one of PJ’s comp races so I thought I would take a look and place a bet. I know , it is my fault, I am using this strange device that perhaps the TAB have not heard of.. an iPad. Probably not very poplar. I click on the TAB app icon and hope... Title bar appears but then a total white screen below. I do a full reset of the iPad and start again. No change. I run Chrome browser instead and go to the TAB site. Yeah it appears and lets me log in. I select the horse I had singled out and pressed the Win button. It just shows a spinning arrow and no bet it placed... I gave up. And they are surprised betting is well down?

Yes as I have mentioned before, the number of articles not in the Premium section gets smaller and smaller. It is a bit like the way they take away the advantages of going live as a member of the public to the races at Ellerslie, bit by bit until you go no more. I started alternating between the Herald and Stuff but spend 90% of the time just going to Stuff to catch up nowadays. I can understand a Premium "No advertisement" option but why we should be paying for Premium when the pages are full of advertisements I am not sure.

The first thing I notice is how even the competition has been this year. The match-ups in the Blues/Canes match look particularly even. With 3x players of the Canes with a higher than 50:50 win ratio, they must go in as favourites. Only 1 player in both the Ferdies and Chiefs with a greater than 50:50 win ratio. The way Ellerslie races these days, I bet Hesi will be the most worried until it moves over to the Aussie races. Now don't go trying to cover any of Roland's picks Alan, we all know how that usually ends...

For best advice, do what the Blues do. We skype in on a Thursday evening for the team meeting. 1. ask Howie what he thinks. 2. go and make a cup of tea and watch some TV. 3. come back half an hour later when he is winding up. 4. tell him we all agree. 5. wait until Saturday and do our own things. Unless my eyes are worse that I thought, the two horses in question both were well back, raced together and our Ruby was beaten by a nose. Is that the consensus!
