Just finished watching Peter Cetera singing Glory of Love from Karate Kid11.He was backed by what looked like a full orchestra and it sounded great.

The focus on Peter Cetera singing virtually lead on all the Chicago stuff later on wrecked the Chicago sound, and turned it into highly commercial guff.

Much prefer in their earlier years, when Cetera played base and joint vocals, but their sound had more focus on the horn section, Danny Seraphines superb drumming Robert Lamm's funky voice, Terry Kath's rock voice and totally under rated lead guitar.

Peter Cetera took over and their music became crap

Bit of a Chicago aficionado, judge for yourself

That sounds right

Foster was the influence that took Chicago into the commercial crap/orchestra/piano etc etc, with Cetera leading the way

Chicago still play as a band with lots of personnel changes, Lamm and the horn section are still there and they still tour, but crap really compared with the early days.

Terry Kath deceased about 1978 by the way
