Re movies & TV Shows on mind. If we were to pitch a TV Show to say Netflix on Racing. Lets say Gallops. Harness prob isnt glizy enough what family or character would you loosely base off? And why?(A TV show not a reality show). Could be a real life family or make believe. Can be international or domestic. A jockey or owner or trainer, strapper or amatuer or owner/trainer hobby trainer. Lets have say 5 families. Would need a hero, a villian & a middle of road stay out of trouble/lime light family. Would need some scandal thrown in eg an affair a drug positive or a murder, plus need a Jon Snow (Game of Thrones type character) everyone loves a hero who started from humble beginnings to work way up. To be King of the North. Yellowstone was a Netflix success & is based on wealthy family, within that family & friends had scandal ups & downs. It was based on a horse ranch. The horse ranch they filmed from exists & is owned by a wealthy family, but the TV show family is make believe I think. People love to watch lives of the rich. Had some bad luck & their barn was burnt down (with some horses in - including a much loved viewers favorite horse, who had just run his last race & was set to be retired). But was it arson? Or was it a bush fire? Were they warned about potential fires? Or was it an old time rival? Who is yet to be introduced to the show. Will there be revenge? And just who is this badie if so? More International beyond NZ. Think Dynasty, Yellowstone, Gossip Girl, The Crowne. All these TV fictional shows are based on elite. Racing is for a part for the elite & rich or at least perceived to be. The Queen is involved as is Dubai royalty & so on. Even NZ harness has wealthy owners such as supermarket mogul etc. Would need to start with a bang. Like a murder within the 1st 10 minutes. Maybe it could be some racing controlling dude kills his wife. (Know what Im like, get bored & switch off if there is no action straight off the bat. Hit stop & move onto next show). Another thought is a badie hires a hit man or a gang to either drug or poison the most popular characters top race horse. But gets caught, so the goodie remains a goodie. Could try to include Harness by having a main character e.g. a jockeys partner to be dating a Harness top driver. This top Harness driver could be glamorous, maybe a beauty queen, who gets busted for drug use. But then redeems herself to go on & be a role model for being reformed & helps those those who struggle with addiction. Also have an overall positive spin on Harness. But ultimately Harness would be a side attraction. And would need to have viewers going away with positive thoughts on racing overall. The every day scandal happens in all forms of life & industries. At end of series, could put up some true life facts, of things that actually did happened over the years. Eg Phar Lap in xyz year was allegedly poisoned. How fun making up our own Raceplace TV show. Remember yesterday, was at a lunch with people. 1 was a TV director who owns a movie company - production company in USA/LA, based in LA currently visiting NZ. It was them that said "cause people drug horses". OMG lol. That then lead onto talking about racing. They were a hoot & said. Yeah racing are for the rich. Perception they sleep with each other, there is scandal blah blah. Wont repeat other stuff they said. Then it lead to them saying to me, come up with a concept. It could work.
