PWJ
Round 3 - Sat Sep 24 N.B. Ruakaka will be the alternative meeting should Awapuni be abandoned before commencement of the comp races. Any race scheduled for Awapuni that is not run will be replaced by the corresponding comp race at Ruakaka. Please select for Ruakaka before the 12.10pm closing time on Saturday Just the two meetings to swat for this week and wet conditions look likely to prevail once again. What happened to Spring ? Small fields at Awapuni may make quinellas particularly critical this week although many of those races look quite even. Then we are off to the Parramatta swamp known as Rosehill for 5 stakes races with wide open fields. In a quirk of fate every match this week features teams adjacent to each other on the table with one point or less separating all rivals. The top two in the table face off in the Napier-Taupo Derby as the two pre-comp outsiders bask in their new-found form. I note the Magpies are inordinately represented in the Serendipitous Six which gives the Chiefs something to aim at. I predict a 'Pies triple-joker play forthcoming - no pressure Chiefs ! The Blues and Turbos match also looks likely to see a Triple Joker play - this one Jaffa-coated coming from the City of Sails. The confident Blues may be worried they won't get a chance again to brandish it if they put the Manawatu boys to the sword come Saturday. Taranaki spanked Otago in last year's NPC (rugby) Final and the 'Naki franchise after finding form last week, will look to push on in the same fashion against a Highlanders unit with a very similar record thus far. Surprisingly both Hesi and Heather are winless after two rounds but one of them is still going to be without a victory after three. Wonder who ? Meanwhile at the foot of the table the Kauri Kats and Swamp Foxes will be looking to get down and dirty against each other and I would expect to see plenty of fur and jokers flying everywhere. I know it's only Round 3 but neither of these sides would want to wake up Sunday morning winless after three rounds. HTH clash of the day has a Wairarapa flavour as Magnificent Seven-ranked pair Pam and Rees duel it out while Pete and Gary have each copped over $1250 of flak scored against them in just two rounds. Sure to be a high-scoring contest again ! Good luck everyone ! Selections Close off at 12.10 p.m. (NZ time) Races are: 1. Lightning Blue
Battle at the Top of the ladder sees Ian and his MAGPIES Team swooping in to terrorise the Nation. Of course the CHIEFS fancy some 'Magpie' feathers for a bit of a new 'Head-dress' as they gallop off into the distance on/with their fine thoroughbreds 😉 Magpie-attack.webp
