  1. Matt Wallace (101) could be happy to be back home and perform. He did well on the pga tour a few tournaments ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see him up the leaderboard early on. My other first round leader bolters are Noren 81, Van Rooyen 126 and Catlin. Catlin has been going great guns on the European Tour and I figure while the big boys try to find their feet in the conditions in Round 1, Catlin could be the surprise at 151. As for Rory, he has gone too zen and all nice to win. He needs to go back to his younger days and show a bit more bloody mindedness in his attitude. Once the round is over he can go and meditate 😁 There is a man with an attitude and a desire to win. Crowd would go nuts supporting him if he was in with a chance.
  2. What are your early thoughts on the British Open? Is it coming home? 😂 At least, if the poms bring out phrase this week it will makes more sense than the rubbish spouted by their football hooligans. Hoshino as top Asian at 9s Rozner as top Frenchmen at 3s 27 to 1. Not sure who will win the whole thing.
  3. Oops, Gavin Smith must have forgotten he booked a trip to Forbs to say goodbye with Aditi. From the Addington stipes report yesterday Race 2 McMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS TROT Show Video WESTLAND PEAK - broke at the start losing ground. ADITI - baulked at the barrier strand being released and was slow to begin. Trainer/driver G Smith advised the filly would be sent for a spell and will have a wind operation prior to resuming.
  4. I don't think so. What was obvious at time, but now confirmed by Alford being caught red handed, was Skiddadle clearly being on something at Ashburton as that run was incredible. Now under a new trainer it has turned into a normal horse so fair enough it won yesterday.
  5. So, when it won last time, it came out of the same draw to lead and then win in 2.25. It has gate speed and has used it to its advantage in past starts. Today, it jogs out of the gate, doesn't move, runs on for 4th down the outside of the track. I seriously wonder about harness at times.
  6. I will match you with Haiti Franco if it stays a bit longer on the tote. From my view, the lay of the day is Itz To the Macs in the last at 4.40ff. Based on its trial they would have to be foxing.
  7. I am not worried about the losing of money 😁 It was in the interests of the horse to start wide and go wider as it has done in its trials due to it being green. I just think it was a liberty Thornley should not have taken. Harness racing starts are a big enough mess without someone deliberately starting in the wrong position. If he is asked anything by the stipes, I will imagine the answer will be the track was flooded on the inside so he started wider. I checked that, and it is not correct but they will lap it up.
  8. Without doubt but he was a naughty boy.
  9. He needs to be suspended / fined for blatantly not starting in his proper place with this horse. He was miles off the rails when he had drawn one on the second line. I backed it by the way.
  10. Turned out to be a very good trio. Loyalist was very brave to run second. A great sight at that price.
  11. Nice trio there. Looked at the 8.50 for Tom Brady yesterday and was trying to figure out why it wasn't less in comparison to the likes of Jay Bee and Lou at 2.90. I thought Loyalist and Taumata VC were the ones in Race 8 with their manners. Not much value for me FF so will maybe look at a few on the tote later.
  12. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/punters-fury-after-tab-refuses-to-pay-out-110000-multi-win-blame-technical-malfunction/WQ26U3PIAPHQU6FU76YMZ75IXQ/ I think he TAB are well within their rights to not pay him out if those games started at 2 am and he placed the bet at 3.48 with most likely the original odds. If this guy is a 'punter' which he must be if he is up that early watching and betting on football then he would well know the odds are totally wrong and knew he was onto false odds. He is just looking for some sort of payout with his comments. I remember a pacer down south opening at something like $65, it was clearly missing the decimal point when it should have been $6.50. I backed it as quick as I could but never really expected it to be paid out if it won. It got 4th anyway.
  13. 3 badly behaved and one gear issue in that lot. You did bookend the meeting so not too bad. Be kind to yourself, Globe, do what the government tells you to do.
  14. 5 back on the outer the trip at Addington last time and 10/9 in the betting so why didn't they get into the race last time?
  15. If No Nukes Skipper is not swabbed then there is no credibility left in harness racing.
  16. Perception is quite important and the way I see it is not very good at all. This is why I don't bet into races with certain trainers in it. Too risky because of their inconsistent performances.
  17. So what does one say after No Nukes Skipper wins? I can't say what I am thinking because I would be breaking the future code of conduct even thought it doesn't apply to me.
  18. It sure does. The Woodend watch alert went up straight away. I could make a few smart comments but would probably cross the line. 8s into 3.30, even despite the weak kneed TAB, is still a reasonable go. It is just the inconsistency surrounding the way they punt that horse. Queenofdance, Ardern's Ace and Lulu Le Mans will offer opposition. Especially Queenofdance with Sam Ottley on. Harness racing is a real mess at the moment. Last night's false starts were inept and showed the lack of nous involved. Add in the cheaters, the inconsistent rulings around the starts, the state of northern harness and punters not able to get a decent bet on it just dismays me. I might add I freely speculate listed trainers are not actually training horses as it is far too easy to manipulate and the owners who are listed in the race book are the actual owners. Maybe the code of conduct will take care of it all! PS In Race 1, Press Play opens at ff5.50? What is that all about. I have watched that horse quite closely recently and it is not shown much after its initial 2nd at Forbury. It is poorly gaited and can barely get around the track in one piece. Also, The Terrorfier and Ultimate Bird are drawn inside it. How can the TAB possibly open it at that price? Its trial for 3rd at Ashburton in slow time? Bugger me.
  19. Jack Harrington might be in for a good day today. Salvo at 2.70ff will take a power of beating in a small field and Tas Girl Bromac is racing very well at present but just a place bet for multis as she is up against 7 race winner Lulu Le Mans. My roughie for the day is Opawa Louie 26ff and 5.50ff. I think a few may see this as he has been on the radar of some people for awhile. I think Matt Cross is a devotee maybe? While the draw is awful and he will drop back to last, if he can get a drag into it and get close enough he has horse power to overcome it. Cristiano Buccini and Adhara are just horses so could never have them at their price while the challenge is more likely to come from Coopers Hawk. Opawa Louie shouldn't be 26s so I am keen enough to risk the draw over 2600m.
  20. Not very familiar with Southland harness anymore but I thought Miss Mucho at 10ff must be some sort of each way bet given its last performance at Addington. A fifth to Folklore and finishing basically in a line for 3rd with Yorokobi, Dhaulagiri etc must frank well to some extent surely?
  21. The break in the score up didn't, nor the going wide round first bend but did ok for 7th. Till later. I didn't even consider betting into that race until I saw it's place price. 4.80ff, that was ridiculously good.
