  1. The Trust Bank sign is the giveaway. The Trust Bank Stakes started in 1989 so getting the winner of 1989 Trust Bank Stakes maybe 1st guess.

Best route to the Derby would seem via Wexford Stables. Certainly wouldn't lose anything in advice. I would say from quite a few months back Waitak would have been prepared to peak on the one day. Whereas others would have been peaking whilst seeking to be worthy of a start.

Hopefully when available we can get more first hand experiences and observations. From the horse and livestock angle like to know if farmers made arrangements for higher ground.
  5. Anyone with news or photos of Avondale in relation to floods? Apparently there was a lot of clean up required after "the flood". Come to think of it news on Ellerslie would be welcome.
  6. Avondale Jockey Club have a new guy at the helm. Manney Boyack. I was impressed with the guy seems he is willing to listen and sounds progressive. Any Avondale members or supporters here? Could be a chance to turn racing around at Avondale. Next meeting April 1 which is a real showcase day for racing. Sires Produce day at Awapuni and numerous Group 1's in Sydney e.g. Doncaster, Derby etc. Any ideas?

You trying to upset George? Denby Road 2000m on soft track will be interesting.

Interesting comments 32:20 - 33:15 Seems M Guerin is now in charge of RIU making statements on their behalf. Downplaying the injection, time period and blaming the vet. Saying no scandal. All highly positive for Todd Mitchell. There is a reason for longstanding protocol of not making statements whilst an inquiry in progress. Particularly one sided ones. He may be 100% correct but thats not the point.
  9. RJB I could also say that anyone who accuses someone else of jealously with no direct evidence is stupid. Doubt also that would add value to the discussion.
  10. Now I think I've got you "I Dyd" Did your father work for Ivan Watkins Dow Chemicals? If so I'll pm or email you.
  11. Yep certainly do. Solid looking bay. Those rides across farmlands to the beach would have been a neat experience for many. They put up ugly oil and gas tanks there years later. Just wondering what years were you involved? There is a story about the place after my father died but not the place here to air it though.
  12. When you mention people Peter worked with probably the first to plonk him on a horse was my old man who ran the riding school across the road from his school. Then again its always possible the female classmates may have been the main attraction😄. Anyway my father did get a horse from Patrick Hogan before Cambridge Stud began. By the stallion Forearmed it actually started in the Oaks.
  13. Spoken from the heart, well written Peter. I can see the hero angle from your racing involvement.

For heavens sake. The comment was a quip re being a fan of Hesi. Anyone can see it wasn't meant to be phrased like that. Does anyone have any sense of humour or "just don't understand" or just want to find an excuse to have a "go".

Whose the other you are fan of?? Anyone in the media is fair game for reaction, criticism or acclaim. Thats part of the job and if they can't handle it then they shouldn't be there. Interestingly a software developer loves criticism because that enables them to fix mistakes. Most people think they are being polite by not saying anything.
  18. Have you forgiven the jockey on Flying Crest?

  20. High probabilty being Wairoa but Peter hasn't responded on that one. Trees and railing looks like it. Next maybe Waipukurau. Napier Park probably closed down by 1975/76
  21. Must have been about mid 2000-2010. Trained in partnership with Mark Walker.
  22. Gai WAterhouse set up with Te Akau in New Zealand. Seemed to fizzle out without really getting off the ground.
  23. Thats what I thought as well. Bit reluctant to say which is which. Possibly On Show on the left. The track seems like Wairoa. I vaguely remember being at Feilding when they ran 1st in one leg and 2nd in another leg of the double probably after this occurrence.
