  1. 6-8-12, Christian Me, Elsu & Master Musician never won the Cup, but oh so close the 3 of them, matter of inches to glory sometimes.
  2. Hey , great question LB. That’ll be Inky Lord, Il Vicolo & Monkey King who won derbies, could run the trifecta easily. Give us a day of tool & froing and I’ll come back with an ezybet, great field 👌
  3. Golden Era trifecta: Lord Module - Young Quinn - Delightful Lady
  4. Going on previous results, I’ll go for the 6-8-12 trifecta, all so close to winning the Cup, but not to be. I’d rate Elsu as the best horse not to win it. Now. To pick the tri out of that lot?, Geez! Thinking cap on! Oops, a day early, will go back and look at the golden era. My bad
  5. I’ll have a go. 2/F/F . 😎 How could Cardy possibly lose off the front? He was so use to chasing and winning off back marks. Plus the Wolfie factor, game over. Okay, to narrow down to three 2/5/13
  6. Okay, all NZers but no way diminishes the Aussies cause didn’t really follow. # 1 Cardigan Bay - did it all, what a trail blazer. Jumped a generation, what a stride.Winning off back marks when they were a thing. Taking on the Yanks and beating them on their own soil. 1st to a million. When PTW says he was the best, take note. # 2 Young Quinn - a true champion, pretty much another CB, versatile, 2-10 yr old. # 3 Lord Module - an excitement machine, one of those horses we made the effort to travel to see, would kill anything for speed at his peak. I’d love to have these three running for me against all comers My 10 cents worth
  7. Yvette Bromac? Looks like Colin Butler and she was chestnut I think
  8. Agree with above. All the old families under pressure, just not the same interest as a career pathway or economically for younger people. Land values sky high, all getting gobbled up and subdivided. Less & less of a foal crop. Man, look at those crowds at Addington & Harold Park with Quinny going around. No silver bullet answer, only the real enthusiasts left it seems. I’m forever the optimist but it all feels very much like a sunset industry.
  9. Okay, one point for spelling Wolfman’s name correctly, have to get you away from the mark somehow🥱. Looks like Josias got in quick before I could mark, sure you’re not an Aussie Josias? Love the extremes of your monikers LB, from Angry Bird to Mel Gibson?
  10. What a mess! There's one other person I can think of who sat behind him including the above that DoubleR Identified.
  11. Here he is, maybe should have been under the letter 'G', that was what his nick name was, Garbage cause he use to eat everything, sign of a good horse. Manfred Mann got it right. Top of the tree this guy. Here's one for you LB. Young Quinn = Charlie Hunter Who else has trained or drove Garbage, that he made them all look good? I think he did it all with one club foot as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWs9JojwucA&ab_channel=harnessdom
  12. I think Jim O'Sullivan would be fined for excessive use in LB's win in ChCh nowdays....now there's an understatement. At least you knew he was trying. Just like Bruce Clarke on Gammalite in Auckland, wow, different times then.
  13. Note to oneself: Never name a horse beginning with ‘X’. Will narrow your chances of being a good one.
  14. Vic Frost was hanging a bit as well, kept on looking for where they are, needed a rear vision mirror on his cart.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_23XuxAuwLg&ab_channel=Magictoliver Remember seeing this, was there that day. Sign of things to come, out & out champion
  16. When will you young fellas learn, have to be in front at the winning post, not before. ( heres hoping I can get off the mark)
  17. Young Quinn was one of those excitment machines when I was growing up, legendary, but for another day, can't wait
  18. All good, just trying to keep that angry bird moniker on LB. 🙃
