  1. I note that Brian de Lore has made no comment in his blog since the 1 July announvement
  2. Please note the deadline for using HTD(Home Town Draw), closed midnight Tues, so not available this round
  3. Let's keep it simple I guess the best gauge of whether you are successfully assessing value, is profit after 28 weeks. So far then, 28 weeks, must enter 20 or more weeks to be valid. Last round, the Sat before Boxing Day 5 selections anywhere in Aus/NZ on the Sat, or mid week for a handful of keynote meetings $10 on each selection, split how you want, all win, all place, each way Fixed odd prices, must state at time of posting, and agency Prize $500 Thoughts again?
  4. More thought required methinks. Looking for a simple means that can be measured, that is an indicator of achieving value. As has been said before, picking winners does not mean you will make money, it's all about successfully picking value. Perhaps just a straight selection scenario, but then that allows the longshot swoopers to do exactly that, swoop, like yours truly, who won a comp on here a few weeks ago by picking 2 longshots, and that was it..............much to the disgust of a few
  5. PS: We would invite our Monday selectors with all the theory on the other site to enter, they can post on their site, and it would just be incorporated into the result listing
  6. With all the discussion about assessing and backing value, I am toying with the idea of running a comp along the following lines 1. Any Sat meeting in Aus/NZ, including also the big midweek ones, through till the last Sat before Boxing Day, about 28 days in total 2. 1 selection per Sat, $1 win on that horse, or maybe $2 win or $2 place or $1 ew 3. Pick your horse, when you post, quote the fixed odds price, and the agency quoting that price 4. Scoring is(based on NZ TAB fixed odds closing prices) You select a $30 priced horse, it wins and pays $12, you score $18 for that week You select a $10 horse, it wins and pays $15, your score for that week is minus $5 Etc etc each week, highest cumulative score is the winner Must enter for a minimum of 20 of the 28 weeks, so allows for late starters, amnesiacs etc etc No win, no score that week Prize ? Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks Chris and Maxi The old format was a bit basic, and a few were having technical problems posting from spreadsheets. When Pete went back and did the costings, knowing more precisely what we wanted, the new platform costs worked out at $6-7 per month extra, so a no brainer. And you are right about the old crap.....that was the reason we started this site in the first place(and quite a few told us that), so thanks for the appropriate reminder

Won the Auckland Guineas, and at one stage was fave for the Derby. Racing's road to stardom, is littered with many promising horses that never came back to the promise they showed at the start of their career
  9. Just testing the water, but get what you say. Good to have you contributing

  12. P.S. The new wrinkle will be - in addition to the one Joker play per round - there will be an opportunity for each team to play a HTD card once during the round robin. HTD stands for "Home Town Draw" which will enable that team (via their Captain) to choose the individual opponents for their team members that week. It will be done on a first-in, first served basis as obviously both opposing teams can't play this card the same week. The opportunity will be open from the time I post the draw on Saturday evening until Midnight Tuesday.
  13. I've figured out why nobody has used it!! It's because the Rose drinking owner of the site has taken down the set of rules Correction No one put them up, with the changeover to the new site See separate thread now

No one mentioned this imported NZ gallopers very good win in the Caloundra Cup. At the other end of the field in the next race that accomplished NZ horse, Demonetization, on a track you thought might have been to his liking.
  15. Lost Marbles/Dream Weavers match all good to go, everyone accounted for

    Ads

Yeah, ads have free speech as well, is that what you are saying Rich
  19. Hesi

    Ads

I liked that Tony's Tyre ad, good prices, but yeah ad free is good, we are certainly not in this as a money making venture
  20. Site is looking great, apparently only 3 posts in 5 days and we're all
  21. I can assure everyone, it is also a Thomass free zone. If by some quirk of law, we had to allow him to join, we would close the site down in preference.....eh Pete And it may come as a shock to a few, but we do actually have free speech on here, respectful debate I think you could call it. I think I have had enough of seeing threads started with WTF, somebody being called an areshole or a c..t, and then people starting threads, wondering where everyone has gone
  22. Hesi

    Where is everyone

You need a new watch Rich, you're late
