  1. Someone with more knowledge of the 2 industries might like to paint a picture of the scenario of what would happen if there was a second or third bloodstock player in the NZ breeding market, not just the one dominant NZB
  2. Don't get your hopes up about the Commerce Commision and anti-competitive behaviour. They get thousands of complaints every year and investigate very few. Speaking from personal business experience. Section 36 of the Commerce Act deals with Misuse of Market Power, which this is clearly an example of.
  3. Interesting parallel 2 associated industries Breeding industry, flush with cash, immaculate infrastructure, manicured properties, the main player leads the way in developing the industry, everyone seems happy with the way the industry is being run Racing Industry, cash strapped, run down infrastructure, the main players only ever look after their own skin, many in the industry are bitter towards the way it has been run
  4. Also, an incentive to race your maiden horse in NZ, hopefully claim a $20K bonus, then sell it offshore for a handsome figure. It will become very popular in NZ, much to the delight of NZB, unfortunately all it will do is benefit those doing it. Promising young horses being raced in NZ is the only way we will see the quality of bloodstock racing improve. It is certainly not going to happen by Aus horses crossing the Tasman.

    TAB

I note that No deductions Protest payout Dead Heat payout Express payout are now all featured in the promotions section And while they say up to 72 hour lead time on withdrawals appearing in your bank account, it is pretty much the same as previous, a few hours.

    AWT - why not?

I recall at the time, that it was mentioned that there was no business case made for the Polytrack

    TAB

I have 45 cents in my account, and I just withdrew 40 cents no problem. The only concerning thing, is that there is an up to 72 hour transaction time, which is a backward move and far in excess of what it used to be, maybe only a few hours. It can't be an AML issue as my account is ID validated

    AWT - why not?

How does the cost compare with standard asphalt, pavers and concrete?

    AWT - why not?

What is the point of laying a synthetic track on an asphalt base that is impervious to water, therefore no drainage?
  11. I blame the TV1 newsreaders repeatedly saying 'Up the Wahs' on network television, instead of focusing on their Pidgin English attempts to speak Maori. That then got all the Ponsonby Rd latte wannabes and Tamaki Drive lycra junkies interested in rugby league, and that was the end of it
  12. Warriors season has all but gone in the space of 4 games. Roosters, Panthers, Dolphins, Cowboys, Storm, Titans and Broncos in the next 7 weeks. Even the optimists, would struggle to see more than 4 points out of that lot. At least if you live in Auckland you can smile quietly at the fate of the Crusaders

    NZTR venue plan

Karaka Millions is going from a 1 day to a 2-day carnival next year, they must have dug up Chris Weaver lol. The second day is looking a bit thin, so they could slot in the 1000 Guineas on the first day and the 2000 Guineas on the second. Before anyone attacks me, my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek.

    NZTR venue plan

3 things of note for me 1. On 2 occasions in relation to Waikato and Trentham, the sentence begins, NZTR understands. Who is driving this venue plan, NZTR or the clubs? 2. Even though the plan says it allows for sufficient racetracks in each region, to allow for major renovations and reconstructions, it does not elaborate on what/where those might be 3. I'm not familiar with the SI, but as far as the NI is concerned, the future location of racing in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay and Wellington is unknown.

    TAB

The Punters Promise and No Deductions were 2 of the most innovative things the TAB did. I think it was Mike Tod who organised all that along with many of the other promotions, he was also the one that got off his 'tod' lol back in Oct 22 and got the ball moving on outsourcing the TAB's wagering business. I am surprised though, that Entain do not have the Punters Promise and No deductions prominently featured on the new format. Many of those complaining forget, the NZ TAB (Racing Board) had their chance, and had Entain not come on the scene, the payout to the codes this season would have been about $120 mil, whereas with Entain it is 170 mil and guaranteed for another 4 years going up to 200 mil. As far as I am concerned and I have said this before, he who pays the piper plays the tune, so Entain can do what they like. They are a multi billion dollar wagering concern, so I presume they have a few clues lol. These moaners and DIY experts saying among other things that the punters were not consulted blah blah blah, have their hand on it

    TAB

Yes, that is what they confirmed to me over the phone, but if what is happening with the Punters Promise and other claw backs, then it is only a matter of time before it also goes. How Ladbrokes operate in Aus, will be the best guide as to what they will and will not offer in NZ, including how they handle winning punters. One big criticism that there has been of the NZ TAB, was the poor overall market value offered, so one would hope to see improvements there. I don't know what sort of value Ladbrokes offer in Aus, by comparison.

Disappointing considering that The Racing Minister has also ensured the deal looks after New Zealand racing punters with the TAB's ground-breaking Punters Promise, which guarantees punters to be able to back any horse to win at least $2000, likely to be retained.22 May 2023

    TAB

Rang the TAB this morning, about a 10 min wait as quite a few having log on problems. The lady I talked to checked with her supervisor or whatever you call it, No Deductions policy continues but the Punter's Promise is discontinued

    TAB

Had a good look around and nothing in the promotions about the 'No Deductions' policy. Earlier reports said it was being extended to April 30 2024 Also the Punters Promise, this from the Minister of Racing when the Entain deal was announced The Racing Minister has also ensured the deal looks after New Zealand racing punters with the TAB's ground-breaking Punters Promise, which guarantees punters to be able to back any horse to win at least $2000, likely to be retained.22 May 2023

Give them a ring Rees, I'm sure they will sort it out over the phone Works fine for me, logging in, logging out etc etc. Just a matter of familiarising where everything is, but that will quickly happen I presume the new format is in line with Entain and other wagering formats overseas, to make the betting experience more familiar with offshore punters???

    Weigh In April 29

Last for the season, MG haters can breathe a sigh of relief 🙄, although I note a rekindling elsewhere
