Not quite right....Winston's notion, no doubt hammered in by the Waikato mob, was that 'lost racedays' cost the industry betting revenue. A nice theory, but we know that isn't correct. I don't think he would have got the millions gifted if the tracks were only for training. He was misinformed, of course, but he isn't the only one.
