Following the running of Race 3 a number of riders expressed concerns regarding the track surface. Atrack inspection committee was formed involving Stipendiary Stewards, Trainers, Riders and Club Officials with the decision being made to abandon the meeting due to concerns regarding the area between the 750 and 650 metres where BILLY BOLD had lost its footing.

I guess the AWTs will resolve these types of issues. Yeah sure.

NZ racing has simply not invested in its current infrastructure. Too scared to make the hard decisions for so many years. And now they think AWTs will change things which they won't.

Just as well the races weren't at one of the money-wasting country venues, just think how bad things might have been .         🐔

If the AWT don't work then we really are puckarooed. Fingers crossed for a good outcome

Thank God I have my Australian racing and Cup Week Christchurch, the only true racing carnival in NZ

Don't forget, we have 2 great carnivals now in Auckland, not that anyone outside of the jet set and racing glitterati would know about them.

It used to be so wonderful going the Ellerslie on Boxing Day

Yep Auckland certainly stuffed a wining formula, Boxing Day, New Year's day were not to be missed days but now gone

New Years Day and the day after actually. Used to be a no miss and I introduced a fair few people to horse racing entertaining them on those days. Better even than cup week used to be on my home track at Riccatton imo.
