Just a guess like most answers but  i'm thinking Jesus Desaint only because i can't find his name anywhere.

or Jesus Guce i know he was seriously hurt in a fall.

I know Guce had more than a couple  of serious falls but it wasn't him (as far as I know)

By my count we only named 12/13 so the one killed may not have been named yet.

Riordan

Skelton x2

Wyatt

Andrews

Robinson

Guce

Higgins

Desaint

Taylor

Marshall

Willets

Harris

SORRY,Can't count forgot about Harris.

Alvaro Pineda or Roberto Pineda

It was Alvaro Pineda who died about a year later in California when his mount reared in the starting gates smashing the jockeys head into the frame of the barrier. Terrific guy I was told by my friend in California who knew him well

Here's today's teaser. This might be a tricky one. The filly pictured was a Champion at ages 3 & 4. She was later the dam of an unraced son who stood at stud in NZ. As a broodmare she was an abject failure leaving only one winner of two minor races in France.

Who is she and who was the son ?

That's an extremely good guess given all the clues but it's not correct. Try a little earlier.

Small clue: the mare in the paddock here today was bred by the son and grandson of the breeders of the mare in the photo.
