  1. The Country Cup qualifiers look like majority are $20k. Well Karrots LIKES this ALOT. WELL DONE HRNZ & those that pitched in and HELPED. I know everyone will have their own thoughts and opinions on it. But mine are this is what was needed and a step in the right direction.
  2. This looks excellent. So Jewels is still on & at Addington looks like it is JUST for 2 y-os tho. BUT a seperate race for boys & girls trotters. Thats great for them! And later in year in Dec. So more will be up and ready to race. Love this Country Cup $100k final and more than 30 Country Cup races. A $500k race at Cambridge. Did I read that right? Wow.
  3. Argh ok. Yes you are Aussie Cheerleader BUT none in. Ok will do an update then. Think Globe & Double R we might be scary them off, with our outfit reveal. Remember Lightning, boring old fart Ludwig called us Childish for our FUN North verse South banter & Cheerleader Teams. FANTASTIC to know we have some YOUNG at Heart & FUN folks on HERE race place! 😃 Will perhaps add Addington to Team South due to his name & possibly Richie. So teams updated as follows North - Karrots, Double R, Globe South - Happy, Addington, Richie
  4. Due to lack of Open class horses in NZ. Yip re Happy Krug, was more getting at the friendly North verse South Banter and how GOOD Copy That must be tehe.
  5. They did mention this on the Boxseat. The reasoning etc. But I wasn't paying attention to exactly what they said. All I was hearing was oh like a mega meeting is on, goodie & switched off. So can't assist further.
  6. In the latest Cup update rankings Triple Eight still yet to be officially withdrawn but is still down for Interdoms. Also noticed in other news that Amazing Dream has been not only pulled from the NZ Cup. BUT also from the Interdoms. Will she be heading to USA sooner rather than later. She does start this weekend I think in G1 ladies race. Speaking of Interdoms also in news on Oz website says HRNZ have pulled out of Interdoms as being host.
  7. Nah don’t think so Lightnging the North is going to smoke the South this YEAR YEEESSSS Brief bragging rights on Day after Cup finish to the cheerleaders of the winning Team Friendly banter allowed in Cup Lead up - NAME Your Team. Team Cheerleaders North 1. Karrots - Cheer Captain 2. Double R Team Cheerleaders South 1. Lightning - Cheer Captain 2. Happy
  8. Team NORTH tehe. Double R you & me can get our cheerleader pom poms out for TEAM North on Cup day. GO TEAM NORTH 😃
  9. Level 3 for Cup Day? Was thinking how good a horse Copy That was to be a 3 y-o, had he been this season, as Krug is still a 3y-o and Krug has won multiple Derbys, but not a factor at Ashburton. Yet Copy That who was the same age as Krug a year ago won at Ashburton beating the older horses. Then was considered so strong went into the Cup as fav. Yet Krug won't be in the Cup. What does that say?
  10. Bummer BUT fair enough the man is busy, just read this from Hesi on a galloping thread last nite response from Guerin re joining in Harness here now its busier. Noted a NICE swift reply.
  11. Iv been finding him quite funny lately. And giving his opinion. I know everyone has their favourites. Some of us like bananas or apples or karrots & some of us don't like bananas or apples or karrots lol. Be great if he joins up here BUT as anonymous. Poster G could even pretend he has never heard of Guerin lol. Guerin like who dat. I find O'Connor on box seat funny too. He doesn't talk as much. He mainly just nods, and gives a cheeky no teeth grin, followed by the eyebrow raise - lots of those. But overall I find they compliment each other. Hopefully they start to do some other stuff e.g. I know there has been feedback that some would like them to focus on smaller trainers or hobby trainers, which I also agree with.
  12. Yes suppose could amend that slightly to don't bet on trotter below Open Grade. Was seriously considering betting M Man to win at $4 something. But didn't as wasn't sure how long the straight was. Turned out to be long. BUT still you were sooooo ONTOIT with Muscle M. How you picked him fresh and all & from that draw = Go Lightning. And yeah everyone has their own rules and ways they bet & decide what to do. Remember Brods had his & Davis, yourself etc had yours. Different strokes for different folks. But still could never understand Forbs ways lol.
  13. The Boxseat are having a CUP DAY National Punters Club. Open to All. Purchase tickets from $20 up & Guerin & O'Connor are doing the selections. Be interesting to see how they get on & if they win the betting syndicate some coin. Good incentive & idea anyway trying to get more peeps to bet on CUP DAY. And for those that don't have TAB accounts. Guess its easy for them to just deposit the money in to join it.
  14. Absolutely agree with them too. I have rule when having a fun bet. (fun selections games on here for e.g. then rules can be broken) BUT otherwise its strictly 1. Dont bet on trotters 2. Dont bet on stand starts 3. Don't be on a driver Im not confident with (Remember when Forbs didn't follow rule 3, then would come online FULL of RAGE re this driver is useless etc. I never understood the chosing to punish oneself lol - wonder where Forbs is these days).
  15. That is interesting that Guerin was almost going to join this site. Yes he should. BUT if I was him I would join anonymously with an anonymous poster name.
  16. Ok. Ill take a peak. Its all about following the rules. Whether they be they must ALL stand or they must ALL walk forward. Had thought in South with the new starter that he was making them ALL stand now. I agree tho re stand starts with the trotters. Be nicer to see a few more mobiles for them.
  17. I don't get it either. He takes a pounding on the Harness side. Me and Honest J had a fun disagreement about our thoughts on him on another site prior us joining here. He thought he was an xyz, I thought he was fine and takes pride in his appearance. Haven't said anything on this sites Harness thread about him. Because its each to their own. I do get an impression tho that some may feel he is a bit shallow or something. And focuses too much on JUST the top dogs oppose speaking more about others and smaller or hobby trainers. Maybe they have a point. But have noticed and did mention this on the other site that he is starting to speak out more and give his opinions. As this was also critiqued that he never gave his real opinion. I at this stage don't have a problem with him.
  18. Im more getting bee in Bonet with the stand start thing. Noticed today at Manawatu that ALL drivers from the South that drove. Stood nicely. So they are part of the group from South that obey & respect the rules. Im starting to wonder BUT not wanting to point the sole finger just yet that M Purdon is the instigator here with these walking starts, when they are not meant to be. And then others e.g. J Dunn, sees what he is doing so does it too, so he is not at a disadvantage. I know Lightening will have something to say here, re this is great tactics thinking from the TOP driver. I actually don't think its cool. Find it distasteful, disrespectful & it needs to be addressed. I don't care who they are. Rules are rules for EVERYONE.
  19. What if we don't want to go scrolling thru tehe. Heard @mardigras is an expert in this area tho. Perhaps could give a quick brief summary of what FC & myself have missed on Punting Perspective forum. Thanks for the tip tho Globe. Might take a look at it at some stage 😄
  20. Watched rest of episode 2 & thats it doco over. Only 2 episodes. Karrots verdict - In my summary, liken it to a animal welfare. If an animal is sick as has poor diet, nutrition etc & does not get seen by a vet, could get quite ill & pass. This in my opinion is what happened to Brittany. No real conspiracy and no direct murder as such. However do believe that due to her husbands controlling way & how he liked his woman thin, & they were a commodity to him, believe he was a contributing factor. He didn’t go and get her hospital help or take her to a doctor when clearly she was ill. When peeps started to blame him for her death. Its like he took his own life & did it the exact same way, thru poor nutrition, over the table medication etc. Both died from pneumonia. For those that don’t know she passed age 32. He was 40. She was an A List Hollywood actress. He was a conman. Was spending $1 million of her money a year. Then started moving in on the mother after she passed. Wont give any further details for anyone wishing to view. Be interested in others thoughts if they do view.
  21. Saw this on a stables Facebook page, about the Personality of a horse that won on Sunday at Cambridge. Thought it was worth a share for those like myself that enjoy the horse personality stories. *There’s quite a tale behind how class clown Yogi, aka Del Shannon, found the winner’s circle at Cambridge on Sunday. For a time it looked like Yogi’s playful antics would prevent Pete and Di McDermott and a group of their Cambridge friends from ever seeing him run on the racetrack. You see, Yogi didn’t confine his daytime activities to his own paddock, regularly escaping by getting under hot wires. Once he even took on numerous gates and absconded with his paddock mate Tess on a joy ride to the next door neighbour’s property. The McDermotts, who can monitor Yogi from their lounge window, delighted in his rare character, and dreamed of the day he’d show off his good genes on the track. They bought him as a weanling from breeders Lyn Chilcott and Grant and Di Beckett, attracted by the fact he was by world champion stallion Muscle Hill out of Hot Chocolate Tart who won nine races for Nicky Chilcott. But after taking in a whole bunch of friends, several of which had followed them down from Auckland when they set up home in Cambridge, the wheels fell off. Yogi kept going lame for no apparent reason, then coming right, before going lame again. “We didn’t know for ages what was wrong with him,” Chilcott said. “Eventually we had scintigraphy done on him and discovered he’d fractured a shoulder. “It was lucky he hadn’t done any more damage in all that time as he’s a really active horse. “He was locked up in a box for a least four months then spent two more months in a tiny yard. We wanted to be extra careful because one wrong move and it could have turned into a catastrophic injury, he would have been toast.” Yogi missed all his two-year-old season which, in hindsight, Chilcott says was a blessing in disguise. “He was a December foal, so time was always going to be his friend, but he’s developed so much in the last year.” Chilcott says while Yogi won at only his second start, he still has no real idea what he’s doing out there. “Everything comes that easy to him so he doesn’t know how to race, he strolled up alongside them on Sunday and thought his job was done. He doesn’t know how to pin his ears back and race but he feels like he’s got more gears.” Punters made Yogi favourite on Sunday after his unlucky debut run on the course 10 days earlier when, despite having to manouevre round early breakers, being checked before the home turn and badly held up in the run home, he still ran a close fourth. “That effort was so professional and even on Sunday he was push button, when I had to take hold of him he came back to me straight away and I could have dropped the reins in the dust sheet.” Sadly, the McDermotts and all bar one of their partners, track support staffer Nes Turan, couldn’t be there to see Yogi’s maiden triumph, Noel and Jan Burnside, Rex and Jan Hooton, Christine and Graeme Gillanders, Roger Carroll, Cliff Thomas, Judy Bowen, Steve and Karen Hollander, Kelvin and Cherry Neville, Jo Turan and breeders Lyn Chilcott and Grant and Di Beckett looking forward to the dropping of Covid restrictions. The ease of Yogi’s win on Sunday confirmed Chilcott’s pre-race tip that he was White Star’s four star bet of the day and a good horse to follow, with plenty more wins in store. And, don’t worry, when Yogi has a freshener at Chilcott’s spelling block now he goes into a paddock with solid fences all round so he can’t repeat his Houdini act.*
  22. Yikes & this is Round 3 nite for our selections GAME @Mike Alex again. Might be harder to make a buck or 2. Oh no not another disaster on the cards from ALL 🤣 Hopefully not 🙄
  23. Here is an article talking about the the record low noms for Alex P. Also talks about Copy That. As he is also nom-ed for Fri. Green states he is not feared after watching the Ashburton OC race, seeing Self A only win by a slight margin. https://www.lincolnfarms.co.nz/stories/copy-that-surprise-entry-for-auckland-on-friday-but-whod-want-to-take-him-on/
  24. Just took a quick peak now. And yip its noticeably BAD.
  25. 1. Looking forward to the racing programme for ALL Group, Feature & Country Cups to be published this week Sunday at latest. 2. Manawatu Season opener is here & a number or South Drivers up to take on the challenge due to Covid restrictions in parts of North. W House has his 1st race day start today. Good luck to him. 3. A number of Maori names (but we don’t think of it as such really when we speak about it, its normal for us 😄 Some we DO ALL know some Maori words without even (thinking about it). Found these are either tracks or clubs etc - Oamaru, Kaikora, Rotorua, Hawera, Te Rapa, Pukekoe, Otaki, Taranaki, Tueriankou, Timaru, Wario, Waikato, Manawatu, Rangiora, Waikouaiti, Waimate @Bloke 😄 @craigos1 😄 4. A look at Downbytheseaside this week. So lets take a look at a pic of the 1st born from Woodlands NZ born early August 2021. A filly by Downbytheseaside. What a cutie & big ears she has 🐴😄 * Noted that a bunch of Woodlands mares that one year served by Lou, were the next year served by Downbytheseaside. Will be interesting to see if there is any difference in the quality come race day. Serving season for Downbytheseaside was: 2019 - 89 /// 2020 - 94 /// 2021 - 70 BUT after making a FULL recovery following colic surgery he is set to serve a nearly closed book in NZ this season. And his book is closed in Australia. So peeps have taken note of him & is he is getting Other breeders now too not mainly just Woodlands mares 😄 * The weanling filly that sold for $50k at weanling sales by Downbytheseaside last year to Stonewall who is a 1/2 to Sugar Me has been named Mermaid Beach & has trainers Telfers up, could be a sign she is in work & being aimed to race at 2. 5. Woodlands have an online testing mate found here, which of their sires best suit your mare: http://testmating.com/woo 6. Here is the correct link to Stable To Stir up. The HRNZ link is incorrect & isn’t working. Down to the Bone is there: https://www.stabletostirrup.org 7. Smaltese has drawn the inside of his main rivals. So if he leads they won’t be bouncing off his back from trail. Will he take G1 glory or will he run the race of his life & still go down in NSW 2y-o boys Breeders Final at Menangle Sat? 8. NZ Cup so far so good re NO further cases reported in the South with 2 weeks to go. Maybe dodged a bullet for now. 9. Have noticed a difference between North and South standing starts. Where the drivers in North obey & respect the rules & each other & ALL horses STAND. This is NOT happening in the SOUTH. Why is it that the North are respecting & some drivers, not ALL in South seem to think they are above the RULES? At the Olympics if you false start - you are OUT of race. No question. GONE. What can be done to tighten up these rule breakers & have a FAIR start for ALL? And why is nothing happening?
