Hesi
18 left in, 5 of which are maidens $6,000 for finishing last Will it be a capacity field, unlikely, but might as well run

Hesi
13, 1 maiden. Poor field in the end apart from the top 3 or 4 So many horses over the years, brilliant acceleration over 2000/2100, nullified by the extra distance. Will it happen to La Crique this year? von Smallhaussen
What about the once mighty Auckland Cup? only 15 nom's left in and 3 of those are rating 65 or lower. How long before a maiden gets a start in the Auckland Cup?
Hesi
An almost respectable field other than those 3 though. Hurry Cane, almost all form on rain affected ground, but have a look at this run in last year's Avondale Cup at Ellerslie on a D4 https://loveracing.nz/Common/SystemTemplates/Modal/Video.aspx?v=http%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f202102%2fAUCK-R08-200221.mp4&i=%2fCommon%2fImage.ashx%3fw%3d565%26h%3d314%26a%3d1%26o%3d1%26z%3d1%26bg%3deeeeee%26p%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f202102%2fAUCK-R08-200221.jpg&r=Race 8 - WALLEN CONCRETING AVONDALE CUP&rs=

Hesi
Pretty much the same sort of run as last years Avondale Cup. Running on okay. It's all about next week over the 3200, and a few showers would help

Hesi
Very 'educated' comments SD, from back on Feb 16 slam dunk Posted February 16 · IP Race 3 ASTERIX $10. cut and paste job from 2nd Feb. .....I draw your attention to ASTERIX in race3. $450,000 buy at the RTR sale and taken along quietly. Quietly being the operative word as you would be familiar being in the club (Innes). Still entered in the Derby. Now at $450.000 you would be desperate getting into the Derby and perhaps sell to Australia even though only remote chance. Booking Bosson probable shows that desperation. The run at Waikato was OK from staying point of view. I know they were expecting a bit better.

Finally I was sucked into the hype around La Crique and Pinarello as a worthy back up. So ended up playing Asterix to run 2nd, 3rd or 4th. The win bet on Asterix was embarassingly small. I liked the last few strides Asterix put in at Tauranga and was going to post this was a great Derby trial. What got me was TV's Emily downplaying Asterix's chances because hubby Opie wasn't convinced.
Globederby19
Tavistock does it again. What a tragedy was his passing. Black type posthumously. I have seen a grown man cry over that incident, and not only him but those in the syndicate that rode the wave. Nice to see for the horse and the Monjour staying ability to the fore.
