They must thinking beyond a year surely? 55% is not going to happen in a year, more like 5-10 years.

At this stage it is only for this season however depending on how successful it proves to be it may be revisited for next season.
karrotsishere
Its a stud Bonanza, but at least they are doing something which is desperately needed. Wondering where will the owners (buyers) of these higher number foals come from? Maybe the existing will just spend more. HRNZ & premier clubs esp Alex P, need to upt their marketing spend to get new participants/owners/race goers/punters/members. Not a market spend to same old, already engaged participants on same old channel eg TAB channel or racing sites. Do print & video/TV commercials (not B grade video footage of horses running around track, get the professionals in). Advertise on other avenues to target the masses. Be sure to get the message right & clear! A slick, hip marketing campaign aimed at 18-45. Make going to Harness races fun, hip & for all ages. Change this bad imagine it has. Replace it with fun, entertainment, appealing but affordable. Nite All, been fun chatting horses with you Y"ll see you in 2-3 months. You need to give breeders time to get organised and think about the future. It needs to create a cumulative effect, not a a one off. So it may have a one year boost and but happens the year after? A steep decline past the previous levels because breeders have used the system to their advantage?

Nah if there is entertainment of some sort as well as racing, hopefully people dont feel the need to get so wasted. Bear in mind in Vegas they offer up free wine, beer. The waitresses go around with trays of freebies to those gambling including playing on the pokies. Why? Because they spend more with a bit of booze in them. Sad but true. But I hear you my friend. Righto nite. Edited September 7, 2022 by karrotsishere
