    Knew Tom a bit and his dad Olin, less well. Super salesman as you say PWJ. Think he sold Royal Academy as a yearling for something like 3.5m from memory.

    Only just visited this thread by accident. Indeed he was a great but not forgotten. Our first little farm in Ky was right across from Golden Chance where he was born and raised and I was at Arlington Park to see him win his second Million in 84.
  4. Agree this number is a crock of shit and the method for calculating it is totally illogical as you point out. It is not correlated to punter losses in any substantive way. With something like 90% of overseas bookies paying GST on NZ punter losses, they should be able to get a reasonably accurate assessment of those from the IRD but seem to prefer to float around these completely unfounded figures to make their case for Geo-blocking, not that that is likely to do much good anyway as you also say. It may be a negative on overall revenue.

    Yes and yes imo.

    I think the judge actually said it was at the lower end of moderate level for a sexual assault, not low level nor low for offending in an overall sense. However, the judge also seemed likely to make comments in his decision supporting the Exemptions Committee giving serious consideration to granting the exemption given the way Matt had handled himself and the situation.

    Well SD the Rules of Racing don't agree with you. Any assault conviction with a criminal penalty over certain levels (and imo opinion this was a particularly heinous sexual assault) immediately triggers a 2 year prohibition. This is covered by a special category in the rules, separate from other criminal offences.

    Exemptions Committee means a committee comprising of the Chief Executive or General Manager of each racing code and a Chairman appointed by the racing codes;

    Are you suggesting that the two offences are in anyway comparable?

    They always do that for a horse on the ballot where they are a dual acceptor for some reason.
  12. And JMac got another one. Huge meeting for all the kiwis.
  13. Huge run by Artorius I thought.
  14. Same again. Available results as at 5am this morning. What's the matter with them?
  15. Funny. Was just talking last night about a trip back there and what events we might want to be there for. Royal Ascot high on the list.
  16. I see the NZTAB fell asleep again. Still showing the last 3 races as 'running'. No results or bets processed.
  17. And buckets of water to give them a drink and cool them straight off in the birdcage after....
  18. A few notes on my observations of Ascot so far. I love that the starting assistants use long double length leads threaded through both sides of the bit for control but also ideal for quick release. No clips. Why don't we do that here? Struggling to find anything with blinkers on. Do English trainers not adhere to Thommo's advice? Lots of horses with crossover nosebands?
  19. Dead set tough or he wins it again. What a great old horse in his element. And some training performance by JG. Fair traveling the whole way.
  20. Well just a fun multi Pillow Talk, Cresta tonight. Was going to throw in Stradivarius but the NZTAB seem to have closed that market.
  21. What? Starter lets them go with Royal North standing in the gates with the blindfold still on! Dettori has to sit there and take it off before he can join in. You expect that sort of thing to happen here but at Royal Ascot?
