  1. Yip well you & ya mates are still IN IT TO WIN IT. As said its NOT over re Dominion until the horse is 1st past the post. I would not be writing MM off by any means. Especially with trotters, can break up, get checked, and standing start. Oh get stuck behind a slow one etc. Was thinking you most likely will go to Ashburton Mile, think read today on HRNZ that Sundees Son giving it a miss. Regardless MM hard to get past over the mile.
  2. This is not story & Mike owes Karrots story. Not sure what you mean summer, not this happen in winter, both stories - re puddle & re Sweetie not puffing much.
  3. Watching the replay of last nite the 2 horses that closed in, in final 400 metres well, were Majestic M & Oscar B. Oscar B closed in better but bear in mind he started off 10m oppose to Majestic M 20m. Overall times in rank order of whole field taking into consideration handicaps. Here are the fastest times in order. Noted Majestic M wasn’t pushed around in final stages. Check this out Sundees Son 1 whole second faster! Sundee Son - 3.15.6 - 20m Majestic Man - 3.16.5 - 20m Bolt 4 B - 3.16.7 - 10m Oscar B - 3.16.8 - 10m unruly
  4. Have always been meaning to ask someone this, tried researching it but nothing came up. Not to do with personalities BUT If horse is working out, jogging comes back sweaty but hardly puffing. Is this a sign? A sign of something? Or is this normal? Always trying to look for signs with Sweetie 😃
  5. Yes a very young horse in that sometimes shares a paddock with Sweetie, same thing. 1 time when they were switching paddocks for grazing, this young horse would not walk thru as a big puddle lay in-between. Nothing could get this young horse thru. So handler had to catch & tie young horse up to gate & literally push its thru using the handlers body. As at time it was prob about 7 months and little was able to do that. Not sure what handler will do with that horse when it gets bigger lol. I researched it after this incident & recall reading something along the lines that horses can't judge the depth of a puddle or something. To be sure just researched again & found this. (Note I researched it as was a bit worried for the wee horse). But now after your post note this isn't so abnormal behaviour - so thanks for sharing. Researched below. "Horses also have poor depth perception when only using one eye. They can’t tell a trailer from an endless tunnel, or a mud puddle from a bottomless lagoon. Their perception is improved by about 5 times when using both eyes (binocular vision)".
  6. Interesting. They certainly are TOP trainers & seem to have an eye for it, like no other & combined makes them that much more stronger. Was a lil surprised that Purdon challenged N Ras last nite at the finish. Which shows to me come Cup Day, they may not TEAM drive after all. @Happy Sunrise recall early on in this thread or on another thread you mentioned they will be made to stand this year. ** Note - last nite, Self Assured did NOT stand. AGAIN Purdon had him walking forward. Watch the replay. Most of the others were standing or trying to stand. If I was the starter I would be keeping a CLOSE EYE on Self Assured & Purdon come CUP DAY. With so many horses in field, easy to take eye of 1 or 2. Which is when they can get a sneaky advantage.
  7. Yeah they couldn't change the flag so trying to change the name of country is a bit of a push. Im like Hesi & Max support the basics, e.g. colours, 1-10, basic songs, words like kia kaha & whanau etc, but it seems to be going a bit too muchie muchie atm. Which to me can lead to racial division. And NZ isn't good. A cool thing about learning the basics at school, was when I lived in LA, at a get together there were 3 kiwis all grew up in from different areas in NZ. And randomly can't recall how it come about but we just started to belt out the words to 1 of those Maori songs learnt at school. A blondie, a redhead lol, and a TV director brunette & it was real neat. The Americans at party were SOO IMPRESSED. Like "wow dudes" It was VERY cool. We felt like the cool kids at the gig that nite.
  8. @Mike hey where is your horse personality story 😄 Come on, tomorrow post one please 👍 Im doing the fast finger posting on selections game like dis
  9. Biting - A funny story - To stop Sweetie from play nipping occasionally, researched this problem & it said to give them a very light/soft tap on leg with your leg/foot every time they go & bite. That way they associate biting with a tap to leg. So tried it. Sweetie goes in for play bite, tap on leg with foot, then few mins later again, so another lite tap on leg. Looking like she is going to go in for a 3rd attempt & funnily enough retracts & LOOKS STRAIGHT DOWN AT HER LEG lol. Worked a treat.
  10. In Auckland now can give you tip. As star witness, have not seen many peeps signing into places anymore. At level 4 Yes at level 3 no. Eg supermarket, diary, food takeout shops. Same thing also re now at supermarket peeps are just like all everywhere, like don't need to have a trolley can just stroll on in. And go shopping. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest cases are going up.
  11. Overcheck - I prefer seeing horses racing without them. Makes me think what if they fall over & then strain their necks because when they land their necks are restrained. Also think too, horse can stretch neck out at finish in a photo finish hehe & not be like all restricted like this.
  12. Like using word whanau, just like, like using words da fam-dam, the best 1 used to like using was 0800 fam-bank 😁 In sentence like this How's your fam-dam doing? Whats the whanau up to? Hang on a tick just have to call 0800 fam-bank.
  13. Love it. We love story time don't we Honest J 😃 Must be a bit like horsey in pic below Lou likes cone lol. I also heard of a horse that towards the end of her career she only tried if she was in lead. Re BJ Joe they said he used to when young swing neck head from side to side kind of thing, even with a galloping pacemaker & they had to put gear on maybe pole & special horse bit thing. Cant remember the horse name terminology. Anyway tell you more story about Karrots horse named Sweetie - A Lou filly. She tried to run off track on 1st lap lol, naughty Sweetie, when Karrots went to watch 1 day. Karrots was standing by gate & oh dear here comes Sweetie. So had to put barrier up. Then Sweetie, next lap when sees barrier put up, starts to shake shake head & neck you know like Joe. So Karrots started to point the finger on next lap loud yelling out "naughty, naughty Sweetie", saying "no no". Sweetie soon listened as last 2 laps she did it perfectly 😃 Come in @Double R @Enteebee @Lightning Blue @Mike @Globederby19 surely you guys have a personality story to share. Mike you might have 1 about horse transport. Whats the funniest or weirdest story you can think, e.g. how many men has it taken to get a horse on truck or how long ... ? Its story time.
  14. Read the last sentence below in Stripes report. Got me thinking about horses & their personalities, how much does it effect their racing, happiness & so on? On top of fact, watched a horse yesterday had been keeping eye on & it ran a great race compared to recent performances. Trying to figure out why, but this horse seemed to love to lead. And hasn’t for a while. So was personality a factor in it trying so hard? How much does personality come into things? Stripes report below stated that Courage of M lost interest. Lol lost interest. Also remember chatting with some peeps from Stonewall & they said that BD Joe was a lil toad when young. The naughtiest on the track. Like Sugar Me, read Dalgety saying S. Me, was naughty too as a youngster. Not interested in being a race horse. Both slightly older have turned out to be nice horses. Coincidence perhaps. But personalities. Karrots young horse same naughty lil fart on track but VERY friendly AS, the second off track. Like sweetie - turns naughty - back to sweetie - turns naughty. Its very funny. Not funny for the driver tho on track lol. Thought perhaps this thread could be on any stories of horses you might/may be connected with or know of and about their personality. Might get some good - fun stories here. Mr Neal further stated that COURAGE OF MONTANA had then dropped the bit and lost interest after the incident near the 1350m and as a result he had not been persevered with.
  15. Peeps will @Mike gotta give them time 😄 They usually start rolling in day of in my experience. Selections are a bit hard tonight as its such a small card compared to usual. May the best selections poster win the challenge tonight.
  16. Yip other thread peeps over on the standardbred - competitions. Not sure which thread to do the running commentary on it as results roll in. Guess the other thread too ... @Hesi ?
  17. OMG tots remember that post you made on the Manawatu thread. Was very funny. Galahs intensive study with curtains pulled Hehe, yeah he's the best. I need him to give me the laugh(like) emoji as he seemed to get my sense of humour. Was the only 1 really lol. Well as we were following Harrison last nite & Lightening hasn't done a final update, he's being all modest. Results Harrison Queen of Cambridge last nite. The young female Northern Jnr took out the actual TAB Drivers Challenge with 3 Wins - a 2nd & her training debut finished 4th. Lightening finished of with 5 WINS total for the nite & 2 2nds. How about that for a warm up for our comp starting tonight. Missed replying to this. Well us in the North are def in with a chance. With SCA, Copy T, Bad to the Bone, I like ALL 3 of those for win chances with right run.
  18. Yes started to get tired 1/2 way down the back by the looks, plugs out then too. But fresh up 1st run so can only improve & 4th is better than 'also ran'. And true to form yes a Lou wins swiftly in just his 2nd start. How good was She Reigns from the 50 metres over 2200. Another win for you Lightening. Gee your on fire tonight with your Hot selections. R1 win R2 win R3 2nd R4 miss R5 win!! You can telly up your final result I need to make my selections, struggling with it.
  19. Oh you are here too Enteebee. Very good 😃
  20. Harrison continues on her merry winning way, with a 2nd in the 2nd & another win in the 3rd! @Lightning Blue you Race 1 win, Race 2 win, Race 3 2nd. Needed to be on Harrison for 3rd 😉 What is up with the kamikazi driving for lead for 800 odd metres race 3 & also a fair way in race 2. These drivers didn’t get the memo. Kamikazi driving 9 times out of 10 ends badly. But young Harrison got the memo coming over the top of them from the back. Next up debut runner in Shirley Bassey.
  21. Ok. Yes & I was also very disappointed when he posted Mikes full name on a thread to fully identify him. Felt that crossed a line & openly said so on too. What poster Ranga will do next is read this, then go & do the exact same thing I have done with the writing something similar to what I have done. Of course if he just googled his ballet ticket in Malaysia pix & posted it then he won’t be able to. That is the behaviour that Iv had to tolerate. And as I said Im here, not even there anymore. Ranga also put up a pic of colours of owners. Owners that are dear to a poster Hunter the Punters heart. Just to mock Hunter. Chief didn't obviously press him hard to remove them. And when recently confronted openly by Hunter about it, said that he was unable to go into someones profile & edit. Umm you have an email, why not tell the person to remove them full stop & no posting until you do. Galah & Davis are probably the best regular posters left, bar the ones that are now posting here. Brodie is alright too, just gets so repetitive. Anyway moving on. And no won’t. Most of the time now, they don’t seem that interested in talking about the racing. Whoop, whoop, @Lightning Blue a win race 1 with Harrison onboard. Commentator mentioned that he spoke to her when she was down South recently & she gives her trained debut runner a chance. Starting 2nd fav, altho the field is not bad, so surprised me a lil. Not paying enough place money to have a small fun punt on. Haha yes starting to get @Mike self admitted problem with lack of self control lol. Firing up lol. But as said, for me best not to look & read. Then no chance of firing up 😄
  22. Yes because I just went to take a look at other site, on the off chance that I MIGHT post on both. BUT no. NO CHANCE. Ranga clearly reading here & Ludwig. Both obsessed with Karrots for some bizarre reason even tho I left approx a week ago. And talking crap about me. And Ranga went and mocked as per usual for him, the ticket post that I put up. By putting up on a thread dedicated to me lol. Pix of ballet. So lame & without a doubt typical behaviour from them. Am a bit disappointed Chief for some reason is playing along too. Like saying prove it via video. So here proved. A bit more personalised. Now not going to Check that site again! Yes hopefully Lightening that Harrison does well tonight. Nice selections even a Lou in the Last 👍😃
  23. Oh & lastly. Sooooo good not having to worry about the troll poster that is allegedly one of the most disliked, if not the most disliked person in Harness racing. Poster Ranga. Not a nice poster either. So I would believe this rumour based off that. Thanks for the tip @Honest john& Hunter the Punter. Hope you doing well Hunter if you ever read this! Still awaiting odds out, maybe at 4pm. The main trot fixed odds are out now tho.
  24. Agree re race OVER IF either Self Assured or South Coast Arden get to lead. Yes have to park them, as the will at some stage in race if they have not made lead early, will mid race move to seek the parked spot. Now if they come around together. That would put 1 of them in the 1/1 which that horse would one would think be a BIG threat. If they are still too good and win from parked & 1/1 then so be it. But at least make a race of it. Don’t let the race be over within the 1st 400 metres! Preference would be don’t let a horse e.g. Dance Time lead. Need a horse that over that distance can get the “OTHERS” on rail line to passing lane. Certain ones might putt out & stuff it for rail line then again same result. Wonder if there is a way to get a horse good at stand start manners. Like a trick. Here is an example of a animal trick used as a lil girl for pet day. Used to always win the Leading hehe. But not the CALLING. Pet lamb has to come to you when called. 1st year terrible & pet lamb ran away out of ring. Sadden & nearly in tears, young Karrots asks winner. “How did you do this”? Why your lamb come running up to you? Answer “at feed time, hold bottle behind back & stand away from lamb, call lamb & lamb will come running - then feed lamb with bottle from behind back. Do same thing in ring come pet day - lamb will think bottle is behind your back”. “Got it”. Karrots says. “Thanks”! Next year, after finishing 1st in leading. Pet lamb & Karrots enter ring for calling comp. A nervous Karrots places hands behind back, as an attendant holds pet lamb back. A few seconds later attendant lets go. Karrots starts to call “Kate, Kate, here Kate”. Kate comes dashing over. It worked! Winner & overall champ ribbons for Africa! Moral of story, reckon there has to be some sort of trick to get better stand start manners, not sure what it is tho. No Pet(e) Lamb this year as starter.
  25. Look what I just found @Lightning Blue 😄 Doing a clean up. Reminded me of our fun banter during Tokyo Olympics & when I told you about how I went to Rio Olympics. And told the story how went & watched L Ko. Ill give short story here, 1 of the days I went there was so few Kiwi supporters approx 8 ish of us as they had gone to watch the water sports & a sea of South Korean supporters 50 ish that was her main rival. With the silver fern flag went racing ahead a few holes & put flag right behind a hole on fence so she could see there were Kiwi supporters there. Her sister after the match came & thanked me for coming & supporting. Very nice she was too the sister - took pix etc. Noted which I mentioned that Ko worn on the last day a Silver Fern cap. Maybe a shout out to Karrots, thinking back to Rio ... hehe. Anyway there were some non-believers on the other site. Even got name called a c..t from a poster, good old Bill $. For sharing stories that quite frankly were true. Doesn't understand a normal fact of life that peeps lead different lifestyles no matter how to them, non-realistic it may seem. Pix of my tickets I saved as souvenirs. Will head back to post later today once odds are out with selections for comp.
