Hence why I believe this will aid betting on offshore racing. Are you going to watch d-grade racing or a/b-grade? If you only watch one or two hours, which is going to get your focus ? Maximus
If the promo video is anything to go by, the 'refresh' of Trackside graphics uses Te Akau colours ...no surprises there. Hopefully they will live yp to the promise of informing us all more quickly about more runners/jocks etc ...at present the placegetters/ divvies/margins/time is painfully slow. pete
It's back on Freeview this morning. I checked it out and can't see any resemblance to Te Akau colours. A touch of paranoia?
Maximus
not paranoid, but Max understands a thing or two about the subtleties of marketing, and if you cant see tangerine and blue in the Trackside graphics on this video you shoulda gone to Specsavers. Even the frame of the vid goes from orange to blue to a combo of the two... wonder how often we'll see (eg) that rotating horseshoe on our screens from now on. A few screenshots attached. pete
Trackside 2 has always had an orange theme and Trackside 1 blue. Maybe you should actually check the channels out rather than pass judgment based on a promo.
pete
If you can construe any sort of relationship between the icons above and Te Akau colours I'd suggest you skip Specsavers and see a psychiatrist. 1
Maximus
wasn't passing judgment...simply said 'based on the promo video' (which explains the nature of the changes), including the refresh to the graphics. Max looks forward to seeing the dazzlingly fast, efficient, relevant and accurate details flashing on our screens in due course. And of they are consistently fast, efficient, relevant and accurate, I won't care what colour combos they use. Of course, the cynic in Max tends to think that anything announced via one M. Guerin on 1 April is likely to be a joke. MM Edited April 2 by Maximus
curious
FAQs To find out more, check out the FAQs below: What channels is Trackside on Freeview? Channels 23 and 24 Is Freeview available everywhere? Yes, through Freeview’s streaming platform (freeviewnz.tv) but you will require an aerial for UHF reception. UHF Freeview is unavailable in Bay of Plenty (outside of Tauranga and Rotorua), Marlborough, Northland and the West Coast of the South Island. What channels are available? Trackside 1 and 2. They are exact simulcasts of what is shown on Sky TV, Sky Go, and TAB.co.nz Will Trackside Premier be on Freeview? Trackside Premier will remain an exclusive product on Sky’s services. What's changed with the graphics? We’ve made a complete change to the look and feel for Trackside 1, 2 and Premier. These are the first major changes to Trackside’s look and feel since 2014. Markets will usually be in favouritism order, except with greyhound racing, where the market will be displayed in box order. What were the key priorities for this change? We wanted to provide a fresh look and feel for Trackside viewers. Alongside this, we want to be able to showcase data which isn’t available in the current graphics, which you will see rolling out in the coming weeks. The way our customers bet has changed a lot in 10 years, and we’ve changed the graphics to reflect that. That is why the main markets you will see will display fixed and tote prices for win bets, rather than including place prices, which are freely available through our betting channels like the TAB app and tab.co.nz. Will we see more of the horses? Yes! We want to show racing in all its glory. Rather than squeezing the vision in behind graphics, the new look has more space for live racing vision to be displayed. Will our programmes be continued? A key part of the Trackside revamp is the continuation of old but revamped favourites such as The Box Seat and Weigh In as well as new programmes which will debut in the new racing season from August onwards.
Maximus
The detail and clarity of the graphics is a big improvement. Great to see the pedigrees of the runners displayed as well as jockeys/trainers. MM

BarryB
WTF is Freeview?. I have never watched anything on it ever & almost certainly never will if I haven't to date. The cheapest sky package is $25 a month which includes Trackside, anyone betting whom can't afford that shouldn't be betting anyway. Besides, its free on your Phone, Laptop, PC, bluetooth, HDMI & so on, surely.
BarryB
Right, does Freeview have Porn? now I am bloody concerned I have been missing something.
BarryB
Well fuck me, I just found it on my TV. Its the same mindless boring shit that's on Sky & the opposite to Porn on there, has about 5 bloody religious channels that all 10 people in NZ interested will be watching. That's enough to turn me off forever again.

BarryB
7 hours ago, Maximus said: well, Freeview certainly sounds like it would welcome porn for you Barry MM Anyone interested in Racing would surely have sky anyway? I went to the Warriors on Sunday, 1/2 the crowd has a $200 plus new season jersey, we’re drinking $15 cans of Lion Red & eating $10 boxes of chips. Most couples there would have spent in excess of $100 on seats & drinks. 75% looked like they couldn’t afford the $10 parking for a start. It’s a priorities thing, the same as people betting on Racing.

Actually some of the Aus coverage is woeful, the obligatory pan to fucking wankers in the crowd leaping around immediately after the line for Syd & Mel insults my intelligence. Especially since the star of the show has been belted countless times in the last 100 mtrs, it’s fucking off putting.
