PWJ Posted November 2, 2021 Share Posted November 2, 2021 Round 7 (FINAL) - Saturday November 6 This is it ! The final showdown and incredibly 7 of the 8 teams can still become Spring NPC Champions. Just two meetings to concentrate on - the final day at Flemington and the opening day of the much-awaited Canterbury meeting. If the Waikato Chiefs can beat the Swampies then the comp is most likely theirs but the Thames Valley crew will be no pushover and bring their Joker to the party. Any slip-up by the Chiefs and those HB Magpies will swoop for the kill but they face no easy task trying to take down early highflyers - the Otago Highlanders. The Turbos can't win it but will be out to spoil the Auckland Blues who will look to come home with a wet sail and Howie at the prow arms spread (bit like Rose in Titanic 😅)with a Joker in his fingertips. Almost forgotten are the battlers from the provinces - The Taranaki Ferdies and the Northland Kauri Kats - who face off in a double-headed Joker clash which if one of them can secure a maximum points win, will see that side descend from the clouds on the unsuspecting frontrunners.... As an aside there are a few contenders for the comp's top scorer among the Magnificent Seven while I note Sharne continues to bewitch her opponents - Craig falling victim last week while this week she seeks to beguile poor old Tom from the 'Naki. Talking of Craig, he is all that stands between Hesi and an unbeaten record for the entire comp. Wrinkles has probably set some sort of record heading the Magnificent Seven and The Unfortunate Five simultaneously - never a dull match against this fella ! Any post-Final Day predictions people ? A 2 point win to either would see them on 16.5/16 respectively Swamp Foxes could easily achieve a 6 pointer, but that would take them to 17.5, so they are probably faves Blues are going to need an 8 pointer, which is a big ask, possibly a 6 pointer but with other results going their way Highlanders would need a 5 pointer and lots of other things to go their way Ferdies and Kats are both going to need possibly 8 pointers, but 10 definitely to put them in a definite winning position Turbos can't win unfortunately 3 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We can still lose and score 1 or 2 points, which would take us to 15 or 16. If you lose, then the Swampies must score a minimum 4 points, which would take them to 15.5.
