Points after Round 7:

Another solid effort from Blind Squirrel together with a last race snatched HTH win combined with an off day from Ray has seen the myopic one take back the comp lead and by 16 points no less with two rounds to go. Is he any good in the bush of the Wairarapa and West Coast or will he get distracted ?? Gordy continues to stand strong in 3rd while Midnight Caller's late rally has taken him up 5 places to 4th. Geoff's spectacular win today lifts him 6 spots to 5th while Craig and Robert each lost a little ground but remain potent threats. Howie held on to 8th but Rex, Zac and PJ lurk close behind and could factor with a daily victory over the remaining two rounds. Richie, Jen and Rees who follow can't be dismissed either.

But it was an impressive performance on a tricky day from Steve which saw him take the daily honours with Jamison clinging on by his claws for 2nd ahead of Robert. Ian, Geoff, Wandering & Zac followed - all in profit. Roland slipped past Secret Squirrel with a 1/st/3rd BB, Gordy got the jump on Jen in the last, while Hesi ran down Richie, Craig caught Rees - another important result in the overall picture - as was Stevie N bowling over Blind Squirrel at the death.

Points after Round 8:

Another solid effort saw Blind Squirrel not only maintain his lead but increase it by one point with Ray still his closest challenger. But for the last race defeat by Stevie, he could have gone to Greymouth with a 22 point lead. Geoff's good form continued today (5 quinellas) and he has now risen up two places to 3rd with Craig now 4th, also having gained two places. Robert edged a little closer while Gordy slipped back 3 spots. Howie and Zac are the others with a mathematical chance of winning the comp. Good luck tomorrow for the final showdown on The Coast, people.
