    Trentham today

The race was WFA so they all effectively carried the same weight. Advantage performed pretty well in Sydney last autumn so I don’t really think that right handed is a problem. Enzo’s Lad was mighty I thought. He is obviously a great straight track runner. Once again the Railway winner was a disappointment. It’s now a couple of decades (?) since one horse took out the two races in the same year I think.
  2. The TAB’s obligation to to balance their books and if the BGP back the favourites (along with the general public), the fixed odds will be minuscule or the TAB will be taking reckless risks that the the industry can’t afford under any circumstances whatsoever. This of course is assuming that the BGP are betting fixed odds.
  3. Yes, between the TAB Bookmakers and BGP there will certainly be a problem that day and in my opinion the TAB have right or mandate to take any extra risk whatsoever.
  4. That’s not what I am saying at all. I am saying that I could easily see her winning the Oaks but not the Derby and was using a sprint bred but highly talented filly that did win the Oaks as an analogy.
  5. Well I see it differently. In the Oaks she would bolt in, just like Snap. The Derby though would be a different matter, just like most other fillies before her who have failed because it’s a whole different matter if they are not bred to do it.
  6. And what good will that do?

    Congrats Barry

Barry, I don’t disbelieve you for one moment but I would love to know what part of the country you live in. Here in the South Island, in all my 65 years I never heard of such a thing. Sadly, putting them in a sack and drowning them yes, but that’s the worst. Having said that, sadly drowning them is preferable I suppose, as compared to releasing them in the bush to fend for themselves, which in turn means the death of bird life. It’s a sad s world a lot of humans create, isn’t it? 😪

    ARC press release

Why should The Cambridge Stud sponsor it? Eight Caret was owned by Sir Patrick Hogan who was the sponsor. Sir Patrick probably kept up the sponsorship after he sold Cambridge Stud (although I can’t confirm that) and has probably decided enough is enough. What the Auckland Racing Club need go do, is go the the Patten of Racing Committee, formally know as the Graded Stakes Committee and ask to have the original name of Ladies Mile officially changed to the Eight Caret. No big deal, it happens now and again such as in Australia with (I think the Winx Stakes.) It’s not much use doing it half heartedly as the ARC seem to be doing. There again is Baker and his cohorts up to understanding it? Somehow I doubt it, given how they have thrown tradition and success out the window over the last 10 to 12 years. i.e. The Christmas/New Year Carnival. Just saying....🤐
  9. .....and at the same time help to destroy the planet.
  10. The last three posts are the best that I have read on “any channel” on the subject. Well done girls and guys. 😊
  11. Mardigras, has it ever been any different in the depths of Winter? Many years back there would have been more running around (foal crop twice the size and no Asian market) but would they have been higher rated? Who will be Champion Two Year Old; Yourdeel or Probabeel?
  12. Your last sentence....I don’t see her ongoing involvement as a good thing for the industry. Which Industry? Personally I don’t see it as a good thing for either Thoroughbreds or Greyhounds, but especially thoroughbreds and I bet that the Standardbred people feel the same. 😢
  13. https://www.grnz.co.nz/News.aspx?NewsID=3224 It’s bloody unbelievable! 🐖 (Representing the continuance of another snout in the trough)

  16. This is what I mean. What or where are the various threads?
  17. Hesi, you need to sort out the various indexes, otherwise the site is starting to look great.
