In the next-

Ferdies can pull one back with Banquo (must pay $2.80+ or Alabama Express complete the Q) or Alabama Express (who if it pays $5.50+ can give The 'Naki the lead)

Turbos can revert to 5-zip if Condo's Express wins and pays $4.30+ or Alabama Express completes the "Express" Q.

2nd - 6 Little Rich Boy Q-$30.60

Scr: 3

2 CRUSADERS (4th) 1016.60

2 HURRICANES* (1st) 784.80

Rob (with the quinella) and Tom on the Dee destroyer for The Cantabs but Hesi and TC reply for the Capital Lads and with Hesi drawing ahead of Robert, the Hurricanes draw level. Craig vs John match looks critical. Both have the same in the next while in the last John has 2 & 3 and Craig #2 and a late scratching which will almost certainly put him on #3 which means the tie-breaker goes to comp race 8 where John's Banquo beat Craig's Sansom which gives the personal battle to John.

Mighty Blues won't be  able to pick up the Turbos aggregate in the last, but would expect to stay ahead of the Ferdies aggregate, and thereby earn 1 competition point from our bye round.

Very valuable contribution from Roland today, with Geoff chiming in the back half of the round.

Onwards and upwards. 👍

Thanks very much,  PJ.

In the last-

To win The Crusaders need Robert to win with Bold Star (providing 2 & 3 are the subs)

To win The Kauri Kats need Sharne to win with All Too Royal and will almost certainly need Time To Reign to complete the quinella.

The Ferdies can't win.

2 HURRICANES* (1st)

$929.80

Everyone bar Rob and Hesi on the final winner with BBs for TC, Tom and Robert with the last-named getting up to nail Hesi (by a nose as it proved) and secure a win for the Crusaders. John won the count-back against Craig due to the comp race 8 result. Tom was a dominant Man of the Match with Porky edging John for 'Canes MVP honours. No bonus points were earned.

2 KAURI KATS* (2nd)

$1108.20

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

3rd was the best The Kauri Kats hope could manage in the last so the Chiefs held on to win and with collects from Punter Pete, Jack and Stevie - who all bagged BBs - plus Ian, they ensured The Kats couldn't pass their aggregate score for a bonus point. Rocky, Graeme and Kats MVP Captain Max got their final collects while Punter Pete was an impressive Man of the Match. No bonus points were earned and like the Hurricanes and Ferdies, the Kauri Kats blew their Joker.

BLUES (3rd)

$1205.40

The Turbos had it won before the last where all but Steve P and 'Naki pair Heather and Zac found the SA visitor with Rees adding a BB. It was an impressive performance from the Turbos who passed the team profit mark in the last to take the maximum 5 points from the match led by Man of the Match Gary while Ashoka was MVP for The Ferdies. Sorry team for an ill-advised Joker play today. I seriously underestimated our opposition. My apologies. Also well done Blind Squirrel !

Thanks Ferdies. Several really close battles with PJ, Ashoka & Maurice fighting tooth & nail to the very end.

Well done Turbos! An impressive team effort with nicely priced winners across the board. The only flaw in the victory was not playing the joker but at least we still have it in our back pocket after today's *Joker Carnage*.

By my count that's two ghost teams and one Joker we've knocked back after just two rounds. I'm sure the Canes have penciled in our match with the Crusaders next week. Bring it on.

cheers

THE TABLE after Round 2

1st 5 TURBOS $2079.80

2nd 3 HURRICANES* $2514.20

3rd 3 CRUSADERS $2499.00

4th 3 BLUES^ $1948.40

5th 2 KAURI KATS* $2014.00

6th 2 CHIEFS^ $1848.60

7th 0 FERDIES* $1934.00

^ bye used

* joker used

The Turbos' huge win rocketed them up 5 places to head the table relegating former leaders The Hurricanes back to 2nd. A win for the Crusaders earned them a one place rise with bye team The Blues slipping back to 4th. A joker-playing defeat saw The Kauri Kats tumble from 2nd to 5th while victory for The Chiefs got them off the bottom of the table where The Ferdies have now slipped to. 5 rounds to go and only 4 Jokers left to play after today's unsuccessful bid by 3 teams to double their tally.
