Round 3 - Saturday Jan 25

Race 10 - Sunshine Coast R9

1st - 11 Scallopini W-$5.30

2nd - 2 Niccanova Q-$28.80

Scr: 4,7,14,15,23

3 CRUSADERS (3rd)

$1621.60

3 points

2 TURBOS (1st)

$1281.00

0 points

HURRICANES (2nd)

$1105.00

None of the Turbos 3 hopes yelped in the last so the Crusaders held on to win, defeating the table leaders, and adding a bonus point for a team profit. Tom bagged a BB in the last and became one of 3 'Saders to score over $400 (Man of the Match Rex and Rob were the others). The Turbos nevertheless finished strongly with all but Gary on the Snitzel winner with BBs added by Ray, Blind Squirrel and Manawatu MVP Ray. The Hurricanes also finished well with all but Hesi on the O'Dea winner with BBs added by John, Virgil and TC whilw Porky - their MVP - added his 2nd quinella of the day but it wasn't enough to catch The Turbos' aggregate so no points heading to Wellington.

488.80 Rex

369.80 Blind Squirrel

304.80 Robert

137.20 Steve P

401.20 Tom

425.00 Ray

405.40 Rob

226.00 Rees

21.40 Craig

132.00 Gary

3 CHIEFS (5th)

$828.20

2 points

2 BLUES (4th)

$992.80

1 point

The Blues had 3 chances to turn the match around in the last but none got close however collects from Pete (with a BB), Gordy and Howie ensured a higher aggregate and a consolation bonus point for the Auks. The Chiefs' final $$ came from Punter Pete (with a 2nd quinella) and Jack. Howie just edged Roland for Man of the Match honours with Chiefs' MVP Ian just a smidgen behind.

229.40 Punter Pete

98.20 Geoff

223.40 Stevie N

189.40 Gordy

136.00 Jack

240.20 Roland

0.00 Gee

243.40 Howie

239.40 Ian

3 FERDIES (7th)

$1342.20

3 points

2 KAURI KATS (5th)

$1018.20

0 points

The upset of the day saw The Ferdies come back from the death to steal the match from the Kauri Kats (who all missed in the last) with Ashoka and Heather snagging BBs to get up and collar Graeme and Jen respectively - well done people ! The last gasp spurt also carried the Ferdies past the team profit mark for a bonus point. Maurice put up a massive effort to take Man of the Match honours while Sharne - who keeps the scorer winless (well done that girl) - was Kauri Kats MVP.

624.40 Maurice

162.00 Maximus

294.40 PJ

349.00 Sharne

182.20 Heather

Well done Crusaders. Hard to beat when the 3Rs launch an all out attack like that. Unlucky to lose with that score Tom. Hope to see you guys in the final.

Brave effort Turbos. We fought hard to get the 3rd highest team aggregate of the day.  To come away with zero points is a kick in the guts but we'll be stronger for it. Small consolation I know but the Canes are the 3rd ghost team we've knocked back in 3 weeks....

THE TABLE after Round 3

1st 6 CRUSADERS $4120.60

2nd 5 TURBOS $3360.80

3rd 4 BLUES^ $2941.20

4th 4 CHIEFS^ $2676.80

5th 3 HURRICANES*^ $3619.20

6th 3 FERDIES* $3276.20

7th 2 KAURI KATS* $3032.20

^ bye used

* joker used

The Crusaders' hard fought win today took them up two places to the top of the table and relegating their victims The Turbos back to 2nd spot. The Blues may have lost but the bonus point for a higher aggregate actually took them up a spot to 3rd while their conquerors The Chiefs advanced 2 places to secure 4th. The bye wasn't kind to The Hurricanes who failed to register a point and slipped to 5th. The Ferdies' last gasp win enabled them to climb out of the cellar, their place taken by their victims - The Kauri Kats - who dropped two spots. All very close after three rounds with just 4 points separating top to bottom. The top 4 sides still have a Joker up their sleeve to boot....

Congrats to the Chiefs on a job well done ..... 2 valuable points into your kitty to keep your hopes alive.

Hard luck my guys .... we weren't far away and it's good to have at least come away with a 'higher team aggregate' point as reward for our day's efforts.

We still have a Joker up our sleeve, and have come away with at least 1 point in every game we've played to date, so we're right in this.

In this, to win this !

Thank you very much for your scoring and commentary today, PJ.

A good day's racing.

Well Done my teamies.. i said WECANDOOSIT and boy DIDWEDOOSIT knock them Turbos off their perch!!??

Today looks to be an illustrious one as The Mighty 'Saders take on a worthy

opponent currently entrenched in the top spot at the moment ...BUT  sorry Globe and co we have eyes on the prize this

wwek...and i give you my CHAPTER and VERSE on that and maybe PERSUADE a few of my teamies to up their game

and wallop the TURBOS with a few well placed salvoes.     Good game Double R /Rex/Tom/Craig  -We just need to hold form for nextweek!

WHAT a tragedy that PERSUADER trying for a needle eye gap in the straight came up short.but i reckon with a stronger rider

and a bit more vigour the outcome could of been better..he will keep !!?? cheers!

It ain't gonna be long before Maxi realises that we Mighty Blues have the second -lowest aggregate of all teams, albeit we are flying high in 3 rd place.

No doubt that revelation at weasel burrow headquarters will trigger a  proliferation of pie graphs, diagrams, and other miscellaneous reports outlining in details alleged fiscal deficiencies in the Mighty Blues bank balance.

Before any such bulletins emerge I better get our Mighty Blues 'spam alert' technology put up to warp factor 10 !

Media Release from Mustelid PR

Mustelid lovers around the world (both of them) are breathing a sigh of relief after family leader and All Round Good Guy Mustelid Maximus was rushed to hospital last night after sustaining a nasty injury at the races.

Speaking from his hospital bed this morning Max said things had been going rather well at Karaka Millions Night when he suddenly became violently ill after eating a small plate of Scallopinis imported from Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

"Knew I should've left those bleeding Ozzie bawsteds alone.  They're either too hot; too cold too small or freakin' poisonous ...don't know why anyone would wanna live there," said the clearly petulant Mustelid.

"But I am on the mend and expect to be back tougher and wiser by the weekend when I have to lead my feisty feline friends into the fray against a bunch of shaky Crew-sadists who may be feeling a mite overconfident."

It's understood MM will be discharged later tomorrow and return home to Bedrock, under the care of his beloved partner Mrs W, a qualified and very experienced massage therapist and grief counsellor

Hi All

Firstly commiserations to the Mighty Maximus ….. Speedy recovery mate.

To the Turbos ….. great match on Saturday ….. great scoring if one was able to punt our selections between both teams nearly $2400 return would have been sweet on P J'S comp method.

To my fellow teamies ….. superb picking …… I hope like me u are enjoying that winning feeling.

While I am mindful we are currently at the top does not mean its a cake walk to the finals as PJ pointed out points are very close from first to seventh anything can and will happen.

To PJ Many thanks for the crusaders updates and your scoring for us all.

Hope the sales proved fruitful.

Finally we are up against the Kauri Puddy Tats this weekend …. so be weary Crusaders team they are curious, precocious and potentially killers ….. but we like them all.

If any one can answer this ? I would be obliged …. How does a weasel become a cat/kat and then return to his Muskily Musetilid !!!!!

Canes would like Sitarist to kick off their fight back in the next, with Kilowatt or Zedaam to run 2nd - not asking too much!?

Shakti or King Of The Dance would have the Canes ready to wave the white flag.

Comignaghi is riding a treat and going for the`hattrick -so you guys may well have Sitarist do the job for you.

I'm thinking Shakti and King Of The Dance will have to lift considerably to trouble the scorer. Still....Roland's form has been excellent ....maybe he's onto something.
