Looks like NZ Racing could be shut down on Saturday due to Covid. Which option would you prefer as an alternative ?

You have got to be joking. One f--ng case and economic suicide for so many business owners again. Supermarkets here are having a run on them already. 

My son lives in Wagga , has bought a house in Melbourne because he has become part of his Solar company and needs to organise the country wide sales and installs from there. He cant shift, now has two homes to service, and it is a logistical nightmare shifting stock from state to state .His 14 yr old son was accosted in a supermarket in Wagga and asked why he wasn't wearing a mask and  why he was out of the home with his mother ,when only one person was allowed out .Wagga??, they haven't had a case within f--ing cooee of the place. Aussie is in the shit big time, and at least the NSW premier has acknowledged that the virus cant be stopped , we will have to live with it.  And don't get me started on vaccination. Thanks for listening.

You're right Rees. They are messing up the country for decades to come and to what avail ? Protect the at-risk and let's get on with life. I'm an "at risk" as it happens. The Americans were running news stories on their TV channels last night incredulous at what is happening in Australia

Hopefully Peter, NZTR will put up something on their website tonight about the race meetings, but the status at the moment is 3 day Level 4(the highest level) lockdown from midnight, to be reviewed after the 3 days, for all of the country.  Auckland and Coromandel, 7 day Level 4 lockdown

Probably just easier for you, with the uncertainty, to go with 10 races from Aus

I would think Ruakaka would be off as well. Northland will be basically cut off because horses would have to be transported from South through Auckland.

Also there is actually no cast iron guarantee that the rest of NZ will actually be out of L4 on Saturday.

Agree with Hesi you should just go with Aussie races.

If Ruakaka can go ahead, Auckland will still be in lockdown, so major issues travelling through, roadblocks, delays, permits required

If you want to put NZ races in, better to have New Plymouth, all noms there are from outside and south of Auckland, and hope restrictions get relaxed so meeting can go ahead

The Whangarei meeting will not be held. A meeting will be scheduled on the Cambridge Synthetic track for Saturday as a replacement meeting. Horses nominated for Whangarei will be transferred into like races at the Cambridge meeting. They can withdraw for no fee. The exception will be that The Cambridge Stud Northland Breeders Stakes (G3) is postponed and will take place at Te Rapa on 28 August (tbc).

Nominations for the new Cambridge meeting will remain open until midday, Wednesday 18 August. Withdrawals for this meeting will close at 1.00pm. Given the circumstances, there may be a delay to releasing the fields (post the 1pm withdrawal closing), but we are hopeful they can be released around 2pm.

Some will never be happy, but I think NZTR have reacted swiftly and communicated well on this.  Quite a bit of ground to cover on this one

Race meetings can't go ahead at Level 4, so I would doubt there will be any racing, but at least they have covered the contingencies

Call me a cynic but with a school, church and casino on the list of known places where the infectious cases have been, the chances of this lockdown staying at 3 days outside Auckland/Coromandel is very low, in Max's humble opinion.

They will take days to contact trace the people at ''locations of interest' and the known community cases were 'highly active' while unknowingly infectious ...so staying in Level 4 nationwide will minimise movement and onwards transmission of Delta. Just my guess.

I can't see that there will be any horse racing here this weekend. Just my guess. 10 Comp races in Ozzie would be better.
