In the last:

The Tigers can't win but Shalwa, Love You Lucy (guess who tipped that), Jen Rules, Irithea or Outback Barbie can prevent a 5-zip win for Covid-Y

Hall of Fame could still win it with Winter Bride (Jamison, Stevie & Ian) but it needs to pay $9.30+ or Jen Rules complete the Q

Much Too Fast can still win with Jen Rules (for Rex and Zac) but it needs to pay $10.40 or Irithea complete the Q. Winter Bride or Baccarat Baby can give the James Gang a 5-zip win.

Maximillions vs Roland;s Roughnecks - hard to predict this one because of the tied match Jen vs Rob. Rob has Shalwa & Krone while Jen has River Racer & Ready To Prophet.

Winter Bride, Baccarat Baby (if it stays favourite) or Irithea assures a Maxis win

Shalwa assures a Roughnecks win

#8 Paint The Town Too is a late scratching

Covid-Y can't catch Much Too Fast but can pass the James Gang if they (Covid Y) can earn more than $42 in the last race (and retain their 5-0 lead) and the James Gang miss the profit bonus and only win 3-2, or lose their match.  Nervous times.

Great stuff John. A couple of nervous teams out there for sure

I wonder if avoiding Jen's Rule will cost Jen.
No her course stats don't read well ....but she'sracing at the top of her game.

Just corrected my previous post.  In that scenario I had assumed that Covid-Y held on to their 5-0 lead as well.

Interesting as they have 5 chances to lose it. Go Shalwa !

Talk about playing to the final whistle - as they fanned across the track I wasn't sure if I was cheering Winter Bride for the team and y trifecta or River Run with my sly $5er on its snout.

As it turns out Lucy did the bizzo for the JG even when none of us picked it.

Super battle Howie and your gallant team - may we meet again in the final!

Well played JG - champs always come good when it really matters!! Time to make life tough for our semi final opponent!!

Round 14 (Final) - Saturday June 13

Race 10 - Eagle Farm R9

1st - 11 Love You Lucy W-$42.60

2nd - 7 River Racer Q-$655.40

Scr: 13

1 MUCH TOO FAST (3rd)

$747.20

0 points

4 THE JAMES GANG (4th)

$1210.80

3 points

Jen Rules tried hard for MTF but 4th was her lot so The James Gang held on for a much needed win. No one tipped the final winner. Craig, the sole MTF personal winner, was Man of the Match while Pete pipped Blind Squirrel for MVP honours for The Gang who took a bonus point for a 4-1 margin.

147.00 Zac

253.00 Jack

32.00 Rex

207.00 Steve P

321.00 Craig

274.00 Pete

112.60 Ashoka

209.80 Hesi

134.60 Howie

267.00 Blind Squirrel

2 MAXIMILLIONS* (1st)

$710.60

1 (x 2 Joker play) = 2 points

3 ROLAND'S ROUGHNECKS (7th)

$571.00

2 points

No one got the final winner but Jen's pick River Racer ran a close 2nd allowing her to defeat Rob on a countback with a score of $0 and win the match for Roland's Roughnecks ! Pam was MVP for the winners, her score only bettered by opponent Max who was Man of the Match in a low scoring match. Maximillions ended up with a higher aggregate and that bonus point was doubled with their Joker play.

303.00 Max

216.00 Pam

147.00 Heather

180.00 Gordy

0.00 Rob

0.00 Jen (on countback)

190.60 Graeme

0 HALL OF FAME (6th)

$763.00

5 FIVE-OH (2nd)

$1251.80

4 points

Winter Bride was never paying enough for Hall of Fame and no one tipped the final winner so Five-Oh scored a comfortable win with Punter Pete edging Captain John for Man of the Match honours with his opponent Ian MVP for HOF. The 5-0 margin was worth two bonus points for Five-Oh. Hall of Fame came into today with Finals aspirations but struck Five-Oh in formidable form while they generally had an off day across the board.

203.00 Ian

295.40 John

164.00 Midnight C

277.40 Virgil

196.00 Stevie N

224.40 Moose

109.00 Robert

298.60 Punter Pete

91.00 Jamison

156.00 The Crucible

1 THE TIGERS (8th)

$1118.00

4 COVID-Y (5th)

$1278.00

3 points
Tigress Jill went back-to-back in the last with longshot "Lucy" the Toowoomba terror and nailed Rocky to pull one back for The Tigers. Covid-Y were in good form and took a bonus point for a 4-1 margin and finished less than $50 shy of a team profit. Jill was a clear Match Star with the day's top tally while Gary was Covid-Y MVP.

70.00 Tom

254.00 Ziggy

639.00 Jill

217.40 Rocky

185.00 Maurice

178.00 Porky

FINAL TABLE

1st 36 Five-Oh $15,327.20

2nd 35 Maximillions $17,546.00

3rd 27 Much Too Fast $15,396.80

4th 25 James Gang $15,933.40

------------finals qual mark--------------

5th 23 Covid-Y $15,233.20

6th 19 Hall of Fame $15,270.80

7th 17 Roland's Roughnecks $12,403.20

8th 14 The Tigers $15,292.20

The Maxis' loss today cost them the Minor Premiership despite earning two points from their Joker play as Five-Oh steamrollered Hall of Fame to take 4 points and annex the Minor Premiership - congratulations to John, Virgil, Moose, Punter Pete and TC. The James Gang needed a decent win to hold off their chasers and they duly obliged downing 3rd placed Much Too Fast. A loss without bonus points would have seen them collared by a determined Covid-Y outfit who defeated The Tigers 4-1 but needed to win 5-zip and take a team profit but couldn't quite manage it. Roland's Roughnecks ended their comp with a win to nail 7th leaving The Tigers in the cellar. So our Finalists have been found. Thanks to all those departing from the comp today but a reminder and an invitation to be back in a couple of weeks for the National Super Comp. Thanks to my Tigers team mates who played well but just had no luck with opposition sides using us as target practice although we did post the highest aggregate among those who missed the finals !

Firstly, a big congratulations to 'Five-Oh'  - John, TC, Moose, Virgil, Punter Pete - the most difficult team to overcome in the competition - the 'winningest' team in the comp - and deservedly picking up the Minor Premiership. Came from a fair way off the Maximillions points-wise to nab them in the shadows of the post . Well done, champs. Thank goodness we don't meet 'Five-Oh' in the semis next weekend.!

Hats off also to the very impressive 'Maximillions'. Set a torrid pace through round-robin, and had it won everywhere but on the line. Some very skilful tipsters in their lineup, and we underdogs the 'Much Too Fast' are gonna have to find two or three lengths to go with them in the semi next Saturday.

'The James Gang' were a class above us MTF today, and showed real ticker to put in a top team performance when it counted most, when under serious threat for their 4th-spot berth in the Championship round. Special mention for Blind Squirrel who has played very well right through this comp and ran away from me today; plus Hesi a deserved win over one of the comp's most highly-rated selectors, Ashoka. Good luck for your match against the table-toppers next week - you are hitting top form at the right time, and I do believe you're in with a live chance next Saturday.

A less than memorable performance from us 'Much Too Fast' today, with the highlight being our Craig saving our blushes with a very strong performance to win his individual matchup.
We need to turn things around fast ...and we could very well do that. Points don't carry forward and we line up level with the 'Maximillions' next Saturday, and from there, anything can happen. We've given ourselves the opportunity ...now it's up to us to take it.

Farewell, departing friends. See you soon, in PJ's next amazing super duper National comp. We MTF hope we will have the support of more than a few of you next Saturday, and in the Grand Final the following Saturday. Many thanks for this comp, PJ, and your sterling efforts scoring and commentating. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. And thanks for your updates today too, John. Always accurate and very informative.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks. Take it easy on those 'Canes tomorrow, Beaudy. They're in 'rebuilding' mode. Naagh ..just kiddin'...give 'em heaps, Beaudy.
GO THE MIGHTY BLUES🙂

You've drawn a tough one next week, Craig !
But we know you're easily good enough on what you've produced the latter half of round-robin in particular.
Let's hope that Mrs Maxi keeps Maxi busy with the housework this week - less time and opportunity for him to study the form ! .

Congrats finalists & thanks PJ for yet another top notch comp.  👍

COVID-Y, it's been a  pleasure. We managed to beat every team in the comp but 2 dud joker calls proved costly in the end. Had we sneaked into the semis, I know we would have been hard to beat.

Gary your 2nd round resurgence has been a joy to watch. 😎

Porky, our top dollar man, propped up our team scores on a regular basis. 🤑

Ziggy, finished strongly after being matched against some big hitters early on. 💪

And finally Rocky, our Mr Reliable who along with Porky, formed the spine of our team. 🤩
Thanks guys.

COVID-Y has left the building....

cheers
