Today's clue: About 30 kms from here in the late 1990s while driving, I watched a car coming in the opposite direction, leave the road and crash down a bank into the river. Japanese tourist with a lack of concentration ! The car was only partially submerged and I helped them back to safety - then were uninjured but very shaken) -then drove 40kms to where I could get access to a phone (no coverage there in those days), to alert the police. Made the front page of the local paper the next day. My son who was with me and about 7 or 8 at the time thought it was all very exciting !
