Possibly On Show on the left. The track seems like Wairoa. I vaguely remember being at Feilding when they ran 1st in one leg and 2nd in another leg of the double probably after this occurrence. slam dunk
High probabilty being Wairoa but Peter hasn't responded on that one. Trees and railing looks like it. Next maybe Waipukurau. Napier Park probably closed down by 1975/

PWJ
4 hours ago, von Smallhaussen said: 1973/74 season? Yep, Otaki 8 Dec '73. On Show breaking his maiden on debut while No Show won the open 2000m beating a good field that include Rose Mellay, Ngaere Dawn, Hamua and Kinetic King. Both horses trained by Marlene Todd although I think Arthur Kent - owner/breeder - trained them later himself. No Show had 122 starts for 15 wins and 30 placings. It took him 11 starts before he cleared maidens. His best win was the Listed Pearce Hdcp at Trentham. He ran 3rd in a George Adams (Trentham) and was twice placed in the Manawatu Cup. On Show went on to win 18 races incl. a Summer Cup at Awapuni and ran 3rd in the Marlboro Mile at Trentham A third brother named Kuranda won 12 races. They were all by Showoff II, a son of Whistler, out of the Boissel mare Kinsel. Close relatives included the top hurdler Navigation (VRC Grand National Hurdle) and more recently The Mighty Finn (Counties Cup)

PWJ
Okay, the only clue I will give you here is that this stallion was wildly unsuccessful. The only clue is that I very nearly bought this stallion at some deluded point in my life. Thank God I didn’t !
