In the next:

Covid-Y can go 5-zip clear with Kolding while Yulong Prince, Star of the Seas or Quackerjack help

The James Gang can pull one back with Melody Belle, Brandenburg, Con Te Partiro or Cascadian and take the lead with Shared Ambition

To win:

The Tigers need-

Heart of the Oak to win for Maurice & PJ

Much Too Fast need-

Plaquette to win for Craig (and possibly Rex !)

OR

Rubiaski to win for Howie (must pay $2.50 or Wayupinthesky complete the Q)

OR

Wayupinthesky to win for Howie

The James Gang need-

Sangria to win for Steve

OR

Wayupinthesky to win for Steve and the Myopic one (4-1 win)

Five-Oh need-

Kings Will Dream beat Mr Sea Wolf in the Doncaster so that means Robert has beaten John - same picks in the last - while for the same reason Stevie has beaten Virgil and Punter Pete has beaten Ian. So just two matches to settle. Moose and TC have different selections which differ from their opponents - Wayupinthesky and Kiamichi respectively - so unless there is a dead-heat between these two Five-Oh can't win

Round 4 - Saturday Apr 4

Race 10 - Randwick R10

1st - 2 Rubisaki W-$2.70

2nd - 6 Wayupinthesky Q-$8.60

Scr: 9,14

3 HALL OF FAME (2nd)

$812.20

2 points

2 FIVE-OH (1st)

$847.60

1 point

Hall of Fame had it won before the last where everyone tipped the winning hot fave with BBs for opponents Robert and John while another set of opponents Ian and Punter Pete snagged the quinella with Moose finally arriving with a BB quinella. TC defeated Jamison on countback with Kiamichi (4th) finishing ahead of Heart of the Oak which kept HOF's winning margin to the minimum while Five-Oh did enough collectively in the last to secure a bonus point for a higher aggregate. Punter Pete was Man of the Match seeing off Hall of Fame MVP Ian.

54.00 Jamison

54.00 The Crucible

287.20 Ian

365.00 Punter Pete

106.00 Midnight C

88.40 Moose

172.00 Robert

172.00 John

193.00 Stevie N

168.00 Virgil

3 MUCH TOO FAST* (5th)

$960.40

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

2 ROLAND'S ROUGHNECKS (4th)

$930.20

0 points
Captain Howie pulled off the win for MTF in the last with a quinella to reel in Gordy with Ashoka (BB quinella), Rex (BB) and Zac ensuring a higher aggregate for MTF to deny Roland's crowd a bonus point. Pam (with a BB also) was the only scorer in the last for The Roughnecks for whom Gee was Man of the Match with Zac MVP for the winners. Much Too Fast double their 2 points for the win with a successful Joker play.

395.80 Zac

0.00 Jen

71.20 Howie

52.00 Gordy

206.00 Craig

332.20 Pam

1 THE TIGERS (8th)

$856.00

4 MAXIMILLIONS (3rd)

$1039.40

3 points

The Tigers had one shot to steal the win in the last but Heart of the Oak loomed and then faded so Maximillions held on to win taking a bonus point for a 4-1 margin. Only Rob and Graeme missed the final winner with BBs added by Sharne and Max while Heather - pipped for Maxis MVP honours by Rob - landed a BB quinella. Jill was a very impressive Match Star for a luck lustre Tigers outfit. I apologise team for my poor effort today. Hopefully better next week.

106.00 Maurice

207.00 Graeme

168.00 Sharne

344.00 Rob

54.00 PJ

93.00 Georgy Boy

27.00 Tom

289.40 Heather

501.00 Jill

106.00 Max

2 COVID-Y (6th)

$1018.40

0 points

3 THE JAMES GANG* (7th)

$1347.00

3 (x 2 Joker play) = 6 points

Blind Squirrel proved the James Gang's saviour in the last when he bagged a BB quinella to overhaul Rocky and secure the win for his team - apologies for not predicting this in the preview. Pete (with a quinella), Hesi and Jack ensured the James Gang also picked up a bonus point for a team profit which translated to a 6 point haul - a great result considering they were never ahead at any point prior to this during the day. Ray, Gary and Rocky took the final collects for Covid-Y for whom Ziggy was an impressive MVP but desperately unlucky to run in to Jack whose whopping Doncaster boilover BB gave him Man of the Match (and the day's) honours. Oh and Pete got a win - Gary's turn next week !

93.00 Rocky

140.60 Blind Squirrel

232.00 Porky

98.20 Hesi

145.00 Ray

52.00 Steve P

494.40 Ziggy

933.00 Jack

54.00 Gary

123.20 Pete

TABLE after ROUND 4

1st 11 Maximillions $4458.40

2nd 10 Hall of Fame $4254.60

3rd 9 Five-Oh $4367.60

4th 8 Much Too Fast* $4561.60

5th 8 James Gang* $3971.60

6th 5 Roland's Roughnecks $3754.80

7th 4 Covid-Y* $3075.40

8th 2 The Tigers $3456.00

* Joker play

Maximillions' win today saw them leapfrog the teams they started the day on level points with to claim the lead at the top of the table. Hall of Fame's win allowed them to maintain 2nd while defeat for Five-Oh saw them slip two spots to 3rd. Much Too Fast moved up one spot with their Joker-fuelled win while The James Gang climbed two places with a likewise strategy and result. Defeat for Roland's Roughnecks cost them two places while Covid-Y lost a spot in defeat. The Tigers lost and remain lonely in the cellar. Long way to go....

First of all .... hard luck today Roland's Roughnecks. Fair to say you had it won everywhere but on the line, having had the lead for almost the entire day.

Ok, i got the decisive stride in today in R10 which obviously counts for something, but I was the least-performed of the 'Much Too Fast' and plaudits to my guys Craig, Zac, birthday boy Rex, and Ashoka for their efforts today. We squeaked in on our Joker play, and can be very thankful for that. It was a near run thing.

Top effort from Gee today ..... takes a lot of friendly 'stick' but on days like this with big fields and a dodgy track he's hard to deny.

And though Rex got a pasting in his`match against Gee (as anyone would when Gee is 'on song' ) Rex made the very good point that the great thing about PJ's comps is that even though you can be down-and-out in your personal matchup you can still contribute greatly to the team effort in either the chase for a Team Profit, or in stopping your opposing team scoring a higher aggregate. Rex 's role was vital in the latter today.

Congrats to other teams who won today, looks like there were some sterling individual efforts around the park, and well done Pete in notching up your win today in your personal match-up. You could be on a roll now.

Thanks very much, PJ. An excellent Saturday;s entertainment, as always.

See you all next Saturday. 🙂

at least I am being consistently poor. Just as well punting isn't an option...I'd be broke.  Git mildly excited when Kiamici hit the front but the was short lived and poor pierata had to carry me whip flashing down the straight - no wonder he peaked poor bugger.  Next week team....next week

Morning all, from Bed-lock, where we find cap'n Max has awoken to the startlingly Good News that the Maximillions have swept to the lead at the end of Round 4. These are indeed crazy days! Max berates himself in retrospect for not play the Joker! Thanks for the match though, Tigers, I have a feeling you will be bouncing back very soon (have you played Five-Oh yet??). Jill was your superstar, gave Max a decent ol' thrashing - the kind VvD can only dream of - but them luvly Maximillions all did the business on a day when picking the right ruffies was very hard. Well done Rob, Graeme, Heather and Georgy Boy.

Thanks for the sterling work PJ, those pre-race updates are bloody good, mate ...how on earth you can work it all out so fast is beyond me!

Take care, everyone - wash yer hands, wash the groceries, wash the surfaces, do this, don't do that ...it's enough to drive a Mustelid to drink ...holy hell, is there any Moet left?

MM
