R5 #1 Need I Say More (Turbos) and #3 El Tirador (Canes)are the nags involved Tis a great comfort - though a touch ironic - that in their misquided attempt to topple the Kats with 'common selections', all the Hurricanes tipsters are now helping the Kats stave off the challenge of the Turbos. Thanks heaps. MM Edited March 6, 2021 by Maximus

Maximus
58 minutes ago, von Smallhaussen said: I thought they already were 🤣 Mustelid Research reckons that to swing their match v Canes, the Turbos need to win with Bavella (appr $750 swing) to eat into the $1k deficit, then Aquaoir (huge upset) or Montre Moi to get in front. Snaffling the Derby Q with Rocket Spade could also do the trick (about $400). The other possible results have relatively small 'swings'. Any win for the Canes alone (Need I Say More/Spring Heat/Festivity/Needle and Thread) before the Derby just makes it tougher for the Turbos. Montre Moi is a big 'issue' for the KKs in the Derby. If it wins, Ian's BB could beat Graeme and defeat the Kats; but if Montre Moi wins and Lord Ardmore runs 2nd for Jen, her BBQ could overhaul Punter Pete! Given some of the outrageous results yesterday, this will be a wild ride today. Strap yerselves in, Kitties! You're getting yourself all befuddled trying to think about more than 3 or 4 combinations of possible outcomes. Just sit back and relax - you've got this in the bag! LOL. no, they've picked #1 Need I Say More in R5 not #1 Dawn Patrol in R7. Max has a few bob each way on DP as explained above! In any case R5 very unlikely to affect the result significantly. The outcome of Graeme v Ian is crucial. Can the 'Old Tom' keep his snout in front and his whiskers clean at the same time? If he can, the Canes/Turbos result is immaterial. TooFast
Just saw a $45-1 longshot triumph in an early Ellerslie race. Could be a sign of what's coming in the Comp races later in the afternoon. 🙂 Interesting about the race I just saw was the country's leading jockey Lisa Allpress and a 3kg-claiming apprentice going hammer-and-tongs up-front for the greater part of the staying journey. Predictably both faded right of proceedings in the home straight. Lisa's mount was the favourite.
