To win-

Kauri Kats need:

Fangirl to win for Rex and Sharne

The Highlanders need:

Fangirl to win for Tonka

OR

Victoria Road or King Colorado to win for Craig

The Blues and Ferdies can't win

Small chance of the Blues winning 4-1, if 4 & 10 deaheat PJ...LOL

Well done Maria, your quinella race 2 at the Valley was the difference, and Pukekohe R8 lost it for me. There are some people you don’t mind losing to and you are one of them.

Just as well we didn’t play our triple joker, as our playoff hopes would be gone,so all we need to do now is thrash the top team next week.

We are tracking the right way Blues brothers, so roll on next week.

ROUND 13 - Saturday October 28

Comp Race 10 - The Valley R9

1st - 1 Romantic Warrior $2.80

2nd - 3 Mr Brightside Q-$13.70

Scr: nil

1 FERDIES*** (2nd)

$985.60

0 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = -1 point

4 MAGPIES  (1st)

$1307.80

3 points

The Magpies had it won before the last where Richie (with a BB) and Antz found the HK visitor as did Maurice (also with a BB), Heather & Geoff. The 'Pies, for whom Secret Squirrel was a dominant Man of the Match took a bonus point for the margin while Heather, as often happens, was 'Naki MVP. Too good Ian, well played. The Ferdies' unsuccessful TJ play cost them a point....

Bar a dead-heat the Swamp Foxes had it won before the Plate where Black Caviar (with a BB) and Captain Maria made their final collect while Gordy and Smiler rounded out The Blues' scoring with the latter getting up to beat the Grumpy Cat and deny the Swamp Foxes a clean sweep of the points. Smiler was also Blues' MVP while Punter Pete was Man of the Match with 6 straight winners.

2 KAURI KATS*** (7th)

$885.20

1 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = 3 points

Fangirl never yelped for The Kats in the last but BBs from Sharne and Rex were enough to get the Kats a $7.20 better aggregate and earn them 3 points for a higher aggregate rather than a 1 point deduction. Ray with a BB, was The Turbos final scorer with Blind Squirrel their MVP. Graeme was Man of the Match, the only Kats player in profit. The Turbos were denied a point for a 4-1 margin with Sharne shooting down Gary at the death to win her HTH.

3 CHIEFS (8th)

$1099.00

2 points

2 HIGHLANDERS (6th)

$1184.80

The The Highlanders had 3 chances to turn it around in the last but none emerged to fight out the finish so The Chiefs held on for a long-awaited win with Captain Jack landing 6 winners to claim Man of the Match honours. The Chiefs failed to score in the last but Midnight caller bagged a BB for The Otago lads for whom Rob was MVP. The Highlanders are consoled by a bonus point for a higher aggregate by $85.80.

2nd 34 FERDIES^* $14,912.80

3rd 30 TURBOS*^ $14,394.00

4th 29 SWAMP FOXES^* $13,811.00

-------unable to qualify for The Finals below this line-------------

7th 18 KAURI KATS^ $12,040.40

8th 6 CHIEFS^ $11,787.60

^ Triple Joker play

* Double Joker play

The Magpies win over the 2nd-placed Ferdies saw them extend their lead to 5 points today and guarantee them a Finals berth. The Turbos win saw them extend their gap to the 5th placed team from 3 points to 5 points while the victorious Swamp Foxes went from an aggregate margin over the 5th placed Blues to a 4 point cushion. The Blues lost but have a Triple Joker to play next week while defeat for The Highlanders sees them needing a very successful regular Joker play against the Kauri Kats next week to have a chance of making the Finals. Despite the late points earned in the last, The Kauri Kats join the Chiefs in being unable to make the Finals. The Chiefs finally found the winning vibe this week - well done - and face a crucial tie for their opponents next week, the Swamp Foxes.
