ROUND 12 - Saturday October 21

Comp Race 10 - Caulfield R9

1st - 2 Without A Fight $9.10

2nd - 6 West Wind Blows Q-$20.80

Scr: 7

2 FERDIES (1st)

$607.80

1 point

3 SWAMP FOXES*** (4th)

$496.60

2 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = 6 points

The Ferdies came so close to snatching a 4-1 win with the gallant runner-up but it wasn't to be and The very relieved Swamp Foxes ran out winners making good use of their Triple Joker play although they were cut back two points at the death with only PJ on the winner bagging a BB quinella to pounce on Punter Pete to pull one back for The Ferdies and give them a higher aggregate for a point. In a low-scoring affair Captain Maria was Swamp Foxes MVP while PJ's late flourish earned him Man of the Match.

304.40 PJ

139.60 Punter Pete

117.40 Heather

172.40 Maria

28 Maurice

40.60 Rees

3 BLUES (3rd)

$621.20

2 HIGHLANDERS (5th)

$1315.20

1 point

West Wind Blows and Gold Trip tried so hard to get the Highlanders home but they were denied by the Cup winner who was selected by Craig - with a beaut BB quinella to guarantee Man of the Match honours - and Tonka (with a BB) as the Blues all missed. The late flourish from the Otago lads took them to with $5 of a team profit but still ensured a bonus point for a higher aggregate. Craig, with a very big score, was Man of the Match while Smiler was The Blues' MVP. Pete should buy a Lotto ticket....

152.60 Gordy

731.60 Craig

3 MAGPIES  (2nd)

$1015.00

2 points

2 KAURI KATS (7th)

$595.00

0 points

The Kats looked lined up for a memorable win over The 'Pies but the last race should you should never underestimate a Magpies strategic selection as all 5 Bay boys labeled the Irish-bred winner with BBs added by a trio of Antz, Stevie N and Ian. Ian rolled Rex, Antz finally got ahead of Sharne which was enough to gran the win for The Magpies. Richie almost grabbed Graeme as well which would have seen the Kats off to the SPCA. Jen was nevertheless Match Star for the Kats while Stevie N was 'Pies MVP. No bonus points were scored. Bad luck Kittys.

196 Ian

35 Rex

272.80 Stevie N

312 Jen

243.60 Antz

61.60 Sharne

5 TURBOS* (6th)

$1932.40

5 (x 2 Joker play) = 10 points

0 CHIEFS (8th)

$528.80

0 points

The death blow for Chiefs was dealt in the penultimate race with no way back in the last despite the encouraging performance they had displayed during the day. Steve P bagged a BB in the last to take Waikato MVP honours while Zig also bagged a BB to take Man of the Match honour with a serious total. Ray (also with a BB) ran down jack in the last to give The Turbos a 5-zip scoreline and a perfect 10 point haul from their Joker play. Nice work, fellas !

296.60 Gary

256 Steve P

549.60 Blind Squirrel

TABLE AFTER ROUND 12

1st 36 MAGPIES* $14,130.40

2nd 35 FERDIES* $13,927.20

3rd 28 TURBOS*^ $13,516.00

4th 25 SWAMP FOXES^* $12,374.20

-----Finals Qualifying line----------

5th 25 BLUES* $12,133.60

6th 20 HIGHLANDERS^ $12,781.40

7th 15 KAURI KATS $11,155.20

8th 4 CHIEFS^ $10,688.60

^ Triple Joker play

* Double Joker play

The Magpies late win today coupled with the Ferdies only taking a solitary point from their loss sees the Bay Boys back at the top of the table by a single point. The day's big movers were the Turbos who maximized their Joker play to climb three places to 3rd. The Blues  won but lost two places due to the meteoric Manawatu rise while The Swamp Foxes Triple Joker play at least saw them hold station. The Highlanders lost a place in defeat. The Kats remain 7th but with two Jokers in hand while The Chiefs have a rent-to-buy option on the cellar. Still a potential 7 Jokers to play in the final two matches of the Round Robin series.

Thanks for the match Maria and your Swampies, too good for us today in a low scoring match, well played.  We lead a bit of a charmed life as we still scored a point, and it means we are able to play our 3X joker against the Magpies next week.

Thanks as always PJ for providing another afternoon's enjoyment, cheers.

It was a crazy day with so many favoured horses failing, many without excuses. It seemed that it was very hard to run on from the back at Te Rapa. Any thoughts ?

Common knowledge I believe PJ, you can't get a horse home from the back at Te Rapa. Have to be close up.

Sometimes Te Rapa is worse than Ruakaka, watering maybe.

A course I never invest on, just races unfairly imho

The Randwick of NZ, again a watering issue maybe

This market needs some revision after the Lucky 7 results....just sayin'

Thanks for a great Super 7's PJ. I think everyone enjoyed that challenge.

Yes the Ferdies were great !! congrats to Geoff on the convincing win . (bad luck Craig there while leading clipping the top of fence and falling out of contention )

you'll have Hesi pumped up now mate ? with PJ and Geoff going great guns lately ....

latest odds changes then >>>>>>>>>>

Latest Market in Aus then , with the changing odds.   original , then updates.........

Kauri Kats    3-1 fav     blown out to       5- 1      now      7 - 1     (no Super 7 form)

Turbo's         4-1        rock steady           4- 1     now      7 - 1    ( Ray cracked under pressure)

Swamp Foxes  5-1      out to                  7- 1      now     6 - 1     ( Rees fighting hard like a good trotter )

Highlanders    6-1       out to                  8- 1     now     6 - 1    ( Captain Craig giving a great sight , then crashing out while leading , sure showed some 'dash ' though 😄)

Blues              7- 1     in a point              6- 1     now       10 -1    ( Pete gone overseas, loses form ? )

Chiefs            8-1       class outfit,   in to      6- 1       now  4 - 1  ( Mr Gee and LB giving Super 7 a shake)

Ferdies          9- 1     no interest          14- 1             now 4 - 1   equal Favourite !!!!!!!!  Geoff and PJ have sparked the interest and Hesi is chomping the Bit after a Reapers win in the Autumn !!!

Magpies       20-1     heavy backing    10-1       steady  10 - 1  ( Collingwood flogged last night by Carlton )
