ROUND 11 - Saturday October 14

2 FERDIES  (1st)

$1754.40

2 points

3 KAURI KATS (7th)

$1113.20

2 points

The King Charles provided a last gasp finish with the Kauri Kats getting up to beat the table leaders as Graeme downed the scorer in the last with a beaut BB quinella, also struck by Sharne - the Kats MVP - while Pam also tipped the Waller winner. The Ferdies final points came from a beaut BB quinella from Hesi and a quinella - her 5th !! - from Match Star Heather who registered an amazing performance. The Ferdies can console themselves with bonus points for a team profit and higher aggregate. Well done Graeme - too good for me today - and the Kats.

3 TURBOS (5th)

$909.80

2 points

The Turbos may have won it before the last but The Blues inflicted some pain when Gordy - scoreless all day snagged the quinella to roll Ray and deny the Manawatu lads a bonus point. The J Mac winner also tipped by Blues Pete (with a BB quinella) and Smiler (Q also) plus Turbo Our Maizcay (also with the Q). Pete was Blues MVP while Gar, who put the cue in the rack after Hastings, was Man of the Match. No bonus points were earned.

403.40 Pete

108.20 Our Maizcay

3 MAGPIES* (2nd)

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

2 CHIEFS (8th)

Dramatic finish where the Chiefs got run down in the shadows of the post with Stevie N's quinella enabling him to run down Jack for a Magpies win and a successful Joker play. The Waller winner also tipped by Magpies Secret Squirrel and Antz - each with quinellas - while Steve P secured Man of the Match honours when he bagged a beaut BB quinella. Secret Squirrel was Magpies MVP and no bonus points were earned. When will the Chiefs' luck change 😟

3 HIGHLANDERS*** (6th)

$1236.40

2 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = 6 points

After losing the lead in the Livamol the Swampies strove to turn the match around but neither of their chances yelped in the last so The Highlanders held on to complete a successful Triple Joker play. The final winner tipped by Foxes MVP Black Caviar (with a beaut BB quinella), Punter Pete (with the Q) and Jamison as well as Highlanders Howie (BB quinella also), Rex (a BB), and Tonka (also snagged the Q). Midnight caller with 6 winners was Man of the Match while Black Caviar (also 6 winners) was Swampies MVP. No bonus points were earned.

7th 15 KAURI KATS $10,560.20

8th 4 CHIEFS^ $10,159.80

^ Triple Joker play

* Double Joker play

The Magpies Joker play and the Ferdies' loss means that these two sides are level on points with The 'Naki crew ahead by only $204 aggregate. The Blues lost but retain 3rd while a defeat for The Swamp Foxes sees them still hold 4th but only on aggregate from a a successful Triple Joker-playing Highlanders outfit. The Turbos won but lost a spot while the Kats are now only 4 points off a Finals berth after their win over the leaders. The luckless Chiefs remain in the cellar.

Hard luck Maurice, very close H2H..closer than the Election Result?

Heather, you were brilliant today. 5 Qs is an awesome performance.

Well done again, KKs..we're still in the hunt, beating our more fancied rivals, the Comp leaders

Just a note - apologies for the chaotic scoring and updates today. My mouse didn't quite die but wouldn't right-click or perform some other functions. You don't realise how vital these pieces of tech are until you lose them. Even a half hour on the phone to my IT managing company only temporarily solved the issue.

Well done KK's, just edged us today.  We'll happily take the 2 points and stay at the head of the leaderboard though.

The beauty and idiosyncrasy of this fine comp of PJ's though, last week we score 450 points a victory and 2 points, this week 1750 points, a loss but still 2 points

Well played Ferdies, even though we lost, still very much a moral victory with 1750 points logged up, easily the best for the day.

Thanks as always to PJ, on a frustrating day, that he was still able to pull through on, to maintain the allure of this comp
