ROUND 14 - Saturday November 4

Comp Race 10 - Flemington R9

1st - 17 Cause For Concern $12.70

2nd - 3 Bandersnatch Q-$134.90

Scr: 6,18

4 TURBOS (3rd)

$1803.20

4 points

1 MAGPIES***  (1st)

$1124.60

0 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = -1 point

Our Maizcay bags a BB in the last to roll Richie with Ziggy also on the winner while The Magpies all missed. The Turbos took bonus points for the margin and a team profit to assure themselves of a finals berth. Blind Squirrel just edged OM for Man of the Match honours while Captain Ian was Bay MVP.

420 Gary

164 Stevie N

417.60 Blind Squirrel

198.20 Antz

270 Ziggy

332.60 Ian

280.60 Ray

128.60 Secret Squirrel

415 Our Maizcay

301.20 Richie

1 FERDIES (2nd)

$1092.80

0 points

4 BLUES*** (5th)

$1523.00

4 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = 12 points

The Blues staged a whirlwind finish in the last where Roland bagged a BB to hop past Heather while Gordy also found the final winner to help ensure The Blues secured a team profit to boost their excellent Triple Joker return and claim Man of the Match honours. PJ was MVP for The Ferdies who all missed in the last with a couple on the desperately unlucky Munhamek.

209.60 Heather

293 Roland

144 Maurice

415 Gordy

194 Geoff

245 Moose

381.20 PJ

281 Pete

164 Hesi

289 Smiler

1 CHIEFS* (8th)

$1007.00

0 points

4 SWAMP FOXES (4th)

$1330.40

4 points

The Chiefs all missed in the last where only Captain Maria found the winner and put The Swamp Foxes into team profit mode. Gee broke his duck at last to take Man of the Match honours with a terrific total while Punter Pete, as often happens, was Swampies MVP. Despite the fine win it appears the Swampies have been run down by The stunning finish from the Auckland Blues.

84 Steve P

213.60 Black Caviar

144 Robert

403.80 Punter Pete

63 Jack

348 Maria

716 Gee

164 Rees

0 Lightning Blue

203 Jamison

0 KAURI KATS* (7th)

$418.00

0 points

5 HIGHLANDERS* (6th)

$1287.40

4 (x 2 Joker play) = 8 points

Everyone missed the final winner with 6 BBs going astray. The Highlanders enjoyed a comfortable clean sweep with their Joker play but even with a team profit which they just missed, it wouldn't have been enough to squeak into the Finals. Tonka, with an impressive tally, was Man of the Match, while Captain Max was Kats' MVP, unlucky to draw the Man of the Match.

0 Graeme

149 Rob

21 Rex

60 Craig

130 Jen

306 Howie

246 Max

571.40 Tonka

21 Sharne

42 Midnight Caller

FINAL TABLE

1st 38 MAGPIES $16,562.80

2nd 37 BLUES $14,667.40

3rd 34 TURBOS $16,197.20

4th 34 FERDIES $16,005.60

-----Finals Qualifying line----------

5th 33 SWAMP FOXES $15,141.40

6th 29 HIGHLANDERS $15,253.60

7th 18 KAURI KATS $12,458.40

8th 6 CHIEFS $12,794.60

Well that was an exciting final round of the regular comp with the leaders - The Magpies - losing but still securing the Minor Premiership, albeit by only a point from The Blues who made excellent use of their Triple Joker play, storming home from 5th to secure 2nd spot. The Turbos won and held 3rd but The Ferdies had an off day and slipped back to 4th meaning they will face the Magpies in the semis (gulp). The Swamp Foxes won quite comfortably but were run down by The Blues whirlwind finish and so now go into The Presidents Finals as favourites - bad luck. The Highlanders also won well but were not able to secure a finals spot due to the form above them while The Kats and Chiefs both lost but can redeem themselves in the Presidents Finals.

Remember we go again in 3 days time on Melbourne Cup day for part 1 of The Finals.

Fantastic effort Swampies but not to be.. cheers to you all,  beaut bunch of Volpes, I think we have always been the team that folk are worried about facing, they never know what they may get 🙂 🥂 💃      Let's take that through to the Presidents Final and do our thang! 🙂   Still be a party in the swamp for another very excellent away win! 😉

Chiefs, it was an odd day where faves and also outsiders were coming in..  and so we shouldn't be amazed that Gee excelled...  well done to you on your total today.    Thank you for the match and see you in the play offs where we are back to the drawing board 🙂

Well done to the Blues and the Turbos picking up wins when it mattered..  best of racing fortunes to both of you in the Top 4 Final 💃

Really proud of the Blues brothers today.

Everyone contributed, and who else but Roland getting up in the last as he has done on many occasions.

Hard luck Swampies, just our day today.

Finally, thanks Ferdies for a contest which went down to the last.

Yep, thanks for the match Gordy, well played, far too good .

Time to get serious Ferdies, business end of the comp.  We've managed to lull the others into a false sense of security, including almost doing ourselves out of a finals spot lol

The Magpies will be worried, team talk this week lol

Thanks as always PJ, fine effort today, thanks

Yeah a real team effort mate.
