PWJ
ROUND 9 - Sat Mar 9 Welcome back everyone for a weekend chock-full of fun. Do not forget this is a double header with Round 9 on Saturday and Round 10 on Sunday. We kick off at Ellerslie with a nice mix of races including a 2yo Group One and the Bonecrusher NZ Stakes (another Gr1). We (hopefully) nip off to Melbourne for the Sires Produce there. Please be aware that Flemington may start earlier or even be abandoned (heat issues), hence why I have included so few races from there. In the event Flemington R4 (comp race 5) is abandoned then comp race 11 (Randwick race 5 - see in pink below) will replace it. You must select for this race when you submit your selections. Please label it as R11. A BB in comp race 5 will automatically transfer to comp race 11. Then it is back to Ellerslie for the puzzle that is the Auckland Cup after which we head to Sydney for the last 4 races at Randwick, including two Gr1 contests. The final two races are quality handicaps with decent-sized fields. There will surely be some juicy odds on offer. Styx sleepwalked their way back into the lead last week but with 4 teams within 4 points of them, they will certainly need to see off Old Mate if they want to stay on top. No stars in Old Mate, just a solid bunch of blokes who are tough to head off, so it looks like a very close match on paper. Magic had a rare off day last week, losing the comp lead but they will be looking to cast a spell over The Max Factory workers with the big gun clash of Rob v Porky looking a tasty encounter. LB will be no doubt giving Jammo the cat call but the fat feline does not seem unduly worried.... Will Magic play their Joker ??? The Seagulls face no easy task to turn their form around as they take on the agents of Kaos. There are a few competitors here looking to get their poor win strike rate above their loss record so I am expecting plenty of study and it will be no surprise if team tactics come into play. Lastly the Reapers take on Showtime who have a better aggregate despite trailing their opponents by 7 points ! What is going on there ?? The Serendipitous pair Ian and Craig face off in a HTH while much attention will focus on the Battle of The Squirrels which is bound to see the fur fly ! Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 11.30am (NZ time) - NOTE EARLY START NOTE - comp race 5 now runs after comp race 2 due to Melbourne early start. Please keep posting order races 1-11 as usual Races are: 1. Some sort of record so far, so am hoping for Stevie N to give it death this week. Just a note PJ. My old Arrowfield cap that you kindly donated ,has worn out, so I was wondering if I remain in this position (1rst) with a record score (say $6000) against, you might as a good will gesture send another one. It's about the only thing I am going to get near winning in this comp.🤣
