PWJ
ROUND 13 DRAW - Sat Mar 30 The penultimate round of the second Round-Robin takes in the 3 Gr1 meetings in Australasia kicking off at Ellerslie with four tricky lower grade sprints prior to the Breeders Stakes featuring a great field of in-form mares. I see a lot of BBs being saved for this one. Then we head to Sydney for a couple of wide open Group 2 contests before ducking down to Melbourne to see if Mr Brightside can continue his fine run of form (or what can take him down !). Then we return to Rosehill for the time-honoured Tancred Stakes with a smallish but talented international field before the days most challenging tipping assignment - the Doncaster Prelude - where 16 go around and there WILL be some juicy prices on offer for some very smart animals. A lot will hinge on this one.... Six points and a lot of trash talk separate Styx and The Reapers with the latter almost in a must-win scenario - and with a Triple Joker up their sleeve - if they want to nail down a Finals berth. Hesi has a formidable opponent in Magnificent Seven leader Smiler while can Teflon Howie continue his great run against a sneaky Squirrel who only went under by less than $20 when they met in Rnd 6 ? The Reapers triumphed last time with Ian slamming Robert by over $340 but our lightning fast posting champ gets a chance for revenge here. Just 3 points separate Old Mate and Magic but only the latter can play their Triple Joker this week and I am picking they will ! Both sides need to recover a bit of form with Magic coming out on top by the narrowest of margins last time they met. PJ, Black Caviar and Jammo went down to the same opponents - Sharne, Anita and Rex - they face this time when they met previously in Round 6 so revenge will be on their minds. Kaos carried out a systematic demolition job (5-zip) on the Max Factory last time they met so the cellar dwellers will look to turn matters around this time to save face at least. Gee and Stevie N face off again as do Barb and Sasha with the first named of each pair seeking to turn the tables on the previous encounter. Kaos may have 3 times as many points as Max Factory but as we know - like the NRL - the Super Comp can be a great leveler on any given day. Just 5 points apart The Seagulls and Showtime are each desperate to secure a Finals berth with the latter having the option of a Triple Joker play in hand. Last time they met the win went to the Chip-guzzling Gulls but it was a close thing and a classic encounter with both sides scoring over $1600 and just a $5 difference in aggregate at the end of the day. Maria will be looking to pour more pain on the comp masochist Rees while the Battle of the Petes is always a good watch - Punter Pete coming out on top last time. Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 11.25am (NZ time) - NOTE EARLY START Races are: 1. Ellerslie R1 - 12.25pm - Entain - NZB Insurance Pearl Series Final - $40k, 1400m, fillies/mares R72 2. Howard Atkinson
Here's my 'go' for our Styx match against an ailing Reapers outfit desperate for a big result to keep their remote play-off hopes alive ! Their endeavours will be aided by a Triple Joker play here (lucky them 🤨), coming as they do well within criteria in having just about everyone ahead of them 🙂, unlike us Styx. Gordy, mate, can ya pass me the Styx corporate calculator please, I'm just wanting to work out 3 x 0 points to see exactly how the Triple Joker will likely work for the Reapers. 😁 Secret Squirrel, good luck to you my esteemed opponent, I've slithered past 9 of 12 opponents so far this campaign, and once I am adorned with the trusty teflon jacket come race start-time tomorrow you might well be the vanquished # 10. That's my masterplan anyway, I've just got to sell it now to the 20 horses I've chosen. 🙂 R1) 2x6 R2) 3x4 R3) 5x9 R4) 8x11 R5) 1x3 Best Bet NZ R6) 2x3 R7) 1x13 R8) 1x7 R9) 1x5 Best Bet Aus R10) 12x17 Wishing the best to my well-performed Styx team-mates Gordy, Smiler, Our Maizcay and Robert. We'll keep the foot hard down on the accelerator, to notch up another good win. Many thanks for another fine comp, PJ. 1
