To win:

Ardern Up need-

Avilius to win for Zac and Ian

OR

Icebath to win for Zac and Stevie (must pay $26.10+ or Mo'unga complete the Q)

Showtime need-

an Avilius- Mo'unga quinella in that order for Gary and hope it pays enough

OR

Wheelhouse or the sub (most likely Mugatoo) to win for Maria

Maxis need-

Yao Dash to win for Rob & Pam

OR

Max to win his head-to-head with the sub (Mugatoo for sure) over Rees' Mo'unga

then: Avilius to win for Graeme (must pay $10,10+ or Mugatoo complete the Q)

OR

Max to win his head-to-head with the sub (Mugatoo for sure) over Rees' Mo'unga

then: a Cascadian-Yao Dash quinella in that order for Pam and hope it pays enough

Round 5 - Saturday Apr 10

Race 10 - Randwick R9

1st - 10 Cascadian W-$7.30

2nd - 21 Icebath Q-$95.10

Scr: 7,12(L),15

Subs: #1 then #10

2 SHOWTIME* (4th)

$469.00

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

3 SEAGULLS (2nd)

$812.00

3 points

Neither Avilius or Wheelhouse got into the frame in the last for Showtime who all missed so the Seagulls not only held on to win but took a bonus point for a 4-1 margin as Pete bagged a BB to pass Porky at the death for a 4-1 margin of victory. Maurice was Man of the Match in a low-scoring affair with Porky the MVP for Showtime whose Joker play was unsuccessful (sorry I didn't pick that up earlier).

BARELLAN (1st)

$1290.20

Icebath wasn't paying quite enough to destroy The Escapists' winning chance in the last but he could have pulled it back to 4-1 and given Ardern Up a team profit plus plus denied Barrellan a point if he had got up to win the Doncaster. Ardern Up all missed in the last as PJ found the winner via a sub and Jack came from the clouds with a massive BB quinella to take Man of the Match honours with a $526 collect ! Zac was MVP for Ardern Up. The Escapists took all 5 points on offer while Barellan, who were second on aggregate, with Captain Howie getting their final winner, took two points including one for a team profit.

260.00 Jen

0.00 Stevie N

526.00 Rex

143.00 Ray

280.40 PJ

186.00 Zac

637.40 Jack

82.00 Ian

455.00 Craig

238.00 Geoff

131.80 Punter Pete

147.00 Howie

318.40 Tom

3 RAMONES* (6th)

$881.80

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

2 MAXIS (7th)

$1153.60

2 points

Max lucked onto the sub and fave Mugatoo in the last and his 4th beat Mo'unga's 10th to see off Rees in the deadlocked match. Yao Dash's bold run no doubt got the Maxis a bit excited but he needed to run 2nd for Pam - who bagged a BB on the winner - to get up and beat Richie. So The Ramones who all missed in the last held on for a successful Joker play with Richie their MVP. The Squirrel played a blinder with 6 winners from 8 races to take Man of the Match honours. The Maxis were compensated with bonus points for a team profit and a higher aggregate.

230.00 Dino

29.00 Graeme

397.80 Richie

318.00 Pam

0.00 Rees

0.00 Max (on countback)

0.00 Gee

560.60 Blind Squirrel

254.00 Baby

246.00 Rob

* Joker play

Table after Round 5

1st 12 Barellan $5462.20

2nd 12 Seagulls $4935.40

3rd 9 Escapists $5077.20

4th 7 Ramones* $3214.60

5th 6 Ardern Up $4507.60

6th 6 Showtime* $4123.40

7th 4 Maxis $4482.60

Barellan's two-point haul on their bye round was enough to see them retain the lead on the table but now only by aggregate over the Seagulls who won today. Big movers were The Escapists who jumped up two places with a maximum-pointer and The Ramones who did likewise with a successful Joker play. These advances were at the expense of losing sides Ardern Up and Showtime who each dropped two spots. The Maxis took a couple of points despite losing but remain in the cellar.

Jeepers team you dragged us out of a hole there. Well done Richie, Dino and Baby. A day of 2nds and cruel to lose a h to h with a sub,eh Maxi.

Appalling way for the Maxis to take 2pts while losing but we aint giving 'em back!
I think Baby's Nature Strip beating Rob narrowly was the diff on a difficult day but a great performance  by BS with 6 from 8. At least you Ramoners didnt whitewash us on yer Joker  play and Showtime copped a big fat blob from theirs...Keeps us cellar-dwellers in the race, wot?

Well done Ramones ... and we Maxis will come right fairly soon.
