Round 6 - Saturday Apr 17

Race 10 - Randwick R10

2 ARDERN UP (5th)

$1348.20

1 point

3 BARELLAN* (1st)

$1591.60

3 (x 2 Joker Play) = 6 points

Wandabaa tried hard for Ardern Up but 3rd was her lot so Barellan held on to win taking a bonus point for a team profit given them a successful Joker play. Only Craig (with a BB) and Ian found Fasika. Tom - once again - was Man of the Match while Ray edged Stevie for Ardern Up MVP honours.

139.00 Ian

339.40 Geoff

426.00 Stevie N

93.60 Punter Pete

48.00 Zac

262.00 Craig

463.00 Ray

375.40 Howie

3 RAMONES (4th)

$751.80

2 points

2 SEAGULLS* (2nd)

$1081.00

1 (x 2 Joker play) = 2 points

The Seagulls had many chances to win it back in the last with Wandabaa (3rd) the closest they got in a race where no one tipped the Pride pouncer. The Gulls were consoled with a bonus point for a higher aggregate, doubled with their Joker play. Gee was MVP for the winning Ramones just edging Baby, while Hesi was Man of the Match.

203.40 Richie

431.20 Hesi

257.00 Gee

233.20 Maurice

1 point

3 SHOWTIME (6th)

$735.20

2 points

MAXIS (7th)

$955.60

2 points

The Escapists came close to stealing the match in the last but Wandabaa couldn't quite round it off so Showtime held on to win although The Escapists took a bonus point for a superior aggregate. The Escapists and Showtime all missed but The Maxis came fast late to secure two points for a better aggregate than the other two sides with Rob bagging a beaut BB quinella and Graeme also weighing in. PJ was Man of the Match while Porky was Showtime MVP.

136.00 Jack

189.20 Maria

344.00 PJ

116.80 Heather

3rd 10 Escapists $5995.60

4th 9 Ramones* $3966.40

5th 8 Showtime* $4858.60

6th 7 Ardern Up $5855.80

7th 6 Maxis $5438.20

Barellan, who had previously led only by aggregate opened up a 4 point lead today with a successful Joker play while the Seagulls' was less successful but they nevertheless maintain a comfortable 2nd spot. The Escapists lost but remain 3rd  while the Ramones won but did not improve their position. Showtime made the best progress today moving up a place after their win while Ardern Up lost a place in defeat. The Maxis two points from their bye round now has them only one point away from escaping the cellar. Maxis, Ardern Up and Escapists play their Joker next Saturday.

Thanks for your top efforts again, PJ.
A very enjoyable and entertaining day's racing.

Please are you able to check Craig (Barellan) and Ian (Ardern Up)'s scores for the last.
I had Craig down as having a BB on Fasika; and Ian had Fasika as well.
For Ian, it would mean a Team Profit achived for Ardern Up ?

Many thanks, PJ.

Thanks for the game today, 'Ardern Up'.
You deserved your Team Profit point, 'Ardern Up' and weren't far away at all from taking out the whole thing.
Ray, well done on an inspired selection of Nettoyer. To be honest I thought you'd be able to beat Nettoyer home if it came down to a straight out sprint between the two of you, Ray ...but I was ....... wrong. 🙂. There was still some life left in Nettoyer.
My greatest claim to fame in this comp is amassing around me a very, very handy bunch of Barellan team-mates ...... Tom who is fast closing in on legend status ...the form competitor for this year 2021 ...... with Geoff and Craig chiming in beautifully week-by-week as well. Punter Pete and I have a  ways to go to match those fellas' high standards ..... but we're battling away well enough.
Many thanks for another great day of comp entertainment, PJ ...... it was a whole lot of fun.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks.

Cheers Rex 🙂  thanks to you and the Escapists team, filled with folk we love playing against and actually many of our co-team members in past comps 🙂  Sorry I meant to post our thanks for the match earlier but I've just got back from FMG Stadium.  Great match and the Mighty Chiefs prevailed - told you I'd try to get a win for both us tonight Jack 😉

Well done Showtime!  Some much needed points to keep us in contact with the leading pack 🙂
