PWJ
Thursday Trivia Probably a little easy this. Name the jockey and the horse. Jockey is now a trainer. Horse won ten races including 4 big ones - two at Trentham and one each at Te Rapa & Ellerslie

PWJ
Okay - last one for the week and this is really tough. I'm not 100% certain but about 99% that the last two stallions imported from the Northern hemisphere who had won major jumping races during their race career, arrived in 1973 & 1974. They each won the same major English jumping race in consecutive seasons. One was stood at Cambridge by one of NZ's most well-known horsemen and one stood about 30kms out of Feilding. One was an English-bred and one was an American-bred. Ironically neither sired a winner of a major jumping race although the British-bred did leave a Grand National Hurdle runner-up. Neither had more than 50 starters although the USA-bred did leave a good winter sprinter who won the same Group race twice. Who were these two stallions ? Football would be at least three times more popular. Karori which is Wellington City's biggest suburb does not have a senior Rugby Team. Waterside Karori if you look on their web site states that they have 1,000 members. Johnsonville has 5 Senior Rugby Teams, North Wellington football which plays out of Johnsonville has 21 . Tawa Rugby 4 teams, Tawa Football 12. Petone once one of the top Rugby Clubs in the country is down to 4 senior teams. If it were not for the Polynesian community Rugby would be as good as dead in Wellington.

He was an awful stallion - 8 winners from 27 starters - who left only two fair runners: Fly North - 2nd to Crown Star in NZ Grand National Hurdles Pulka - 3rd to Mr. Hickey in a Wellington Steeplechase
PWJ
So Kenny Browne's North Pole was the GB-bred. Now tell me who was the American-bred that ended up somewhere around Kimbolton ?? Clue: his best performer's best performance was arguably a placing to Bonecrusher in a Gr2 race

PWJ
Just now, ngakonui grass said: Mythical King? You are too good buddy. Correct. His best performer was Coronal who was placed behind Bonecrusher and Eva Grace in the International Stks at Te Rapa as well as winning the Rotorua Challenge Stakes twice. Apricot Road was the only other Group performer he bred. He did leave 32 winners from 49 starters so might have done better with higher quality books of mares. Both he and North Pole won the Victor Ludorum Hurdleat Haydock Park, an event restricted to 4yos.
von Smallhaussen
Okay - here is another for Christmas eve - should be far too easy for you PJ He was a grandson of the mighty Hyperion and not only looked like Hyperion but had a gentle nature like him as well. Was trained at New Plymouth and might have won 1 race. Sired a handful of runners but did leave a dual stakes winner.

Couple of stallions by Hyperion in NZ were Rolled Gold and Red Mars.
