8th 8 THE WILD BUNCH $9,994.60

* Joker played

The losers in the La Bodega v Five-O clash look quite likely to miss out on the Finals, so that's going to be a crucial match. Fartoofast will hope the loser scores no bonus points and that Dynamite lose and do likewise in defeat to UTR. Animal Kingdom has the easiest draw (on paper) of the 4 sides covered by 2 points but they could also be in danger of missing out if they suffered a loss without bonus points. Farttofast are well aware of what's needed - no less than a 5 pointer doubled with their Joker play. If they can achieve that then it's likely one of those sides from 2nd to 5th will slip up. Gonna be an interesting day !

To The Rustlers and The Wild Bunch I say thank you for participating and being such good sports and I hope to see you again for the next comp. Good luck with your final match on Saturday. 👍

Hi Rees,

I do not want you to be the reason for you to be confused.

My selections might give you a lead on what horses to consider, and then dismiss!!!!

Cheers.

Robert.

My dear Robert, after 6 races I am still flying a Zero and this seat is a pain in the bottom. You on the other hand made 177 bucks on a brutal day, well done lad.

It was a finely-timed thing ..... Robert (who has been far too fast for most) almost got his selections in before the fields were out ! 😂

This is exactly the sort of foresight and initiative we look for in a candidate before we select players for our 'Too Fast' franchise.

What an outstanding player Robert has been for the 'Too Fast's this campaign.

So here we are we 'Too Fast's ..... it's been a great past month afterus  earlier being left flat-footed in the barrier ....and now here we are at 'crunch' time.

A  month ago our prospects of making the Championship Round were 200-1, and drifting.

Yet here we are with a 'crack', albeit a very tiny 'crack' at the playoffs. But the hurdle to climb is a big one - a 5-0 win with a team profit. The obstacles to that are these :- 'Our opponents 'The Wild Bunch' have been in very steady form the past couple of weeks - they are no easy-beats for sure. We can't afford even one slip-up in a head-to-head, there is no margin for error. I'm not sure we 'Too Fast's are team-profit players with the style that we have - of the 13 rounds played we would have had 1 team-profit success, if that. But this coming Saturday a Team Profit is essential.

On the plus side Stevie P and Robert have been in scintillating form; Jack has been chiming in very nicely these few weeks and has played a significant role in getting us back on track. New Gold Card recipient Geoff, the BB king, has been very consistent and always a threat. And the Team Captain has managed a Donald Trump impersonation wonderfully well .... promised much and produced little.😊

So we go in to Saturday with modest expectations, but with a chance. And we value that chance, and hopefully we can grab that chance with all ten hands.

Good luck to all those still alive with Championship Round aspirations. I  Saturday is gonna be great, a day of much excitement whatever the outcomes. Where else would you get a competition like this ? The supreme competition brilliantly organised and run by the legendary PJ.

Just glad to be part of it.

Can't wait for Saturday. Enjoy, my friends. ☺️

Strategic clue for the FarToos ...go for a wide range of value picks throughout the afternoon and hope it's yer lucky day.!

I some how think a more conservative approach might be wise.  Keep the totals ticking over, providing the more favoured runners win. I think in Aussie the cream will rise to the top this weekend, with the real talent winning out.

Thanks for your thoughts Maxi & Rees. All input gladly accepted and appreciated. Personally I think I'd lean more towards Maxi's idea of going for a wide range of 'value' bets through the day  rather than a more conservative` approach, as it won't be any good getting a 5-0 result (if we're fortunate enough to do that) if we ain't achieved a Team Profit in doing it ! hehe ...so many possibilities. My head's spinning. 😁

last time they met.....

From Round 2...

4 ANIMAL KINGDOM  $1180.40

1 THE RUSTLERS        $849.40

There was trouble at the korral in the last, despite 6 of the 10 tipsters labelling the winner …as The Moose broke free from leading Rustler Maurice with a tasty ($131.20) BBQ of his own, to be his team’s MVP in a 4-1 AKs victory. Only Rustler Ray held sway head to head (his BB on Lacustre in the Ellerslie feature being crucial in beating Graeme). Beasts’ Heather, Rob and captain Maximus posted reasonable totals on a day when quite a few short-priced faves got home and picking the right ruffie was …difficult.
No bonus points were earned, so it looks like 3 comp points to the AKs and 0 pts to The Rustlers.

 357.00 Moose

204.40 Maurice

197.80 Maximus

62.00 Brian

111.20 Graeme

226.60 Ray

255.00 Rob

154.00 Gary

259.40 Heather

202.40 The Crucible

From Round 3...

4 UNDER THE RADAR (4th)

$1122.60

3 points

1 DYNAMITE (1st)

$944.60

0 points

Under The Radar had it won before the last but finished with BBs from Sharne and Pete plus a quinella from Man of the Match PJ. Dynamite's final collects came via BBs from Stevie and Ian plus another win from Rocky. Sharne's BB on the sub was enough to get her past Ziggy and claim a bonus point for a 4-1 margin.

94.00 Wrinkles

211.00 Junior Mac

357.20 PJ

191.60 Rocky

284.20 Pete

237.20 Ian

217.20 Tom

151.00 Stevie N

170.00 Sharne

153.80 Ziggy

1 FARTOOFAST * (5th)

$817.40

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

4 THE WILD BUNCH (8th)

$1152.40

3 points

Fartoofast gambled on the Wild Bunch not getting their mojo back and came unstuck with their Joker play coming to nought. Two of their players - Geoff and MVP Robert each labelled 7 winners including the last. The Wild Bunch ended the day with wins from Gordy and Jen (each bagging BBs ) plus Dualis (7 winners also). Gordy's winner saw him nail Blues bro Howie  and hand the Wild Bunch a bonus point for a 4-1 margin. Captain Roland, returning to form, was Man of the Match.

69.00 Steve P

364.60 Roland

293.40 Robert

135.00 Jen

144.00 Jack

248.00 Gee

74.00 Howie

98.00 Gordy

237.00 Geoff

307.20 Dualis

From Round 4...

2 FIVE-O* (1st)

$336.00

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

3 LA BODEGA (7th)

$683.80

2 points

No fairytale ending for the Joker-playing table leaders as everyone missed the first two home in the Feehan. Ashoka just edged Rees by 15 cents for Man of the Match honours while Craig - the Five-O MVP - was the only member of his side to get into triple figures. Swabs anyone ??? No bonus points were earned. La Bodega are no doubt delighted to weather a Joker play and enjoy a first victory downing the table toppers.

53.00 Virgil

182.60 Rex

43.40 John

215.60 Ashoka

101.00 Craig

96.60 Richie

94.00 Punter Pete

43.40 Paul

43.60 Hesi

215.00 Rees

Surely Five-O's worst score of the comp last time against La Bodega - could it happen again ?

Fartoofast's hopes of a 10 pointer won't take much encouragement from when they last met The Wild Bunch who spanked them !!

Quite a few match-ups offering repeat pairings for an opportunity for redemption for some...

Please Peter ,we don,t need you to give them any unnecessary encouragement :classic_wink:, they will be in desperate mode as it is and we wouldn't like to confuse the poor little darlings,  would we, would we???.

Scenarios

Dynamite hold the key 🔐

A win by Dynamite has the ripple effect to end every team in contention for the semi’s bar UTR

Now from memory Dynamite has played FARTOOFAST twice for a win and a loss

FiveO twice for a win and a loss

LaBodega twice for a win and a loss

Animal Kingdom twice for a win and a loss

Under the Radar once for a loss....now go do the maths

Skip I may not be the smartest at maths but the last time we played FTF it was a Loss the last time we played 5/0 it was a loss, the last time we played La Bodega it was a loss, the last time we played Animal Kingdom it was a loss, dare I say it now you go do the maths🥵
