ROUND 1- Saturday August 5

$847.00

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

2 CHIEFS

$775.00

0 points

Topsy-turvy match where the lead changed 4 times but the Joker-playing Blues prevailed in the last with Moose bagging a BB on the hot fave to down Lightning Blue (also on the winner). All the other Blues also grabbed a win with BBs for Pete and Roland while Robert and Steve P snagged BBs for The Chiefs. A fairly low-scoring affair with Gordy Man of the Match defeating Chiefs MVP Steve P.

2 TURBOS

$1234.00

A few nervous moments for the Ferdies when Pioneer River loomed late but the fave held on, tipped by everyone while Ray and Hesi bagged BBs. The Ferdies added a bonus point for a team profit although new signing Rees will have to lift his game 😂 Man of the match was Our Maizcay who tipped 7 winners and landed both BBs while the ever reliable Heather was 'Naki MVP and unlucky to draw OM. The Turbos put up a strong fight and led for the first 8 races in a highly competitive match.

The Highlanders had it won before the last despite what the scorer tried to tell you. Only Secret Squirrel and Craig missed the final winner with Rob adding a BB. The Magpies had led 3-0 early in the day before the Otago lads fired up with Tonka Man of the Match  edging MC who tipped 6 winners. Antz just edged Richie for HB MVP honours. The Highlanders took a bonus point for the 4-1 margin.

3 KAURI KATS

$1068.00

Ranting and Arbitration never got into the finish so the Kauri Kats held on to win with Jen scoring the last $$ with a BB on the winning fave and just pipping Graeme for Kats' MVP honours. All the Swamp Foxes bar Maria got the final winner with Rees and Punter Pete adding BBs. After a quiet start in the South Rees came through in Oz to take Man of the Match honours for The Swampies who gave the Kats a fair run for the their money and took a bonus point for a higher aggregate.

Thanks for the match Turbos, close all the way and just 3.20 in it in the end.

An impressive start Ferdies, well done and a moral victory over the rest of the field with a chart topping aggregate, by some way.  Kauri Kats are struggling already to stay with us despite their skips unfounded remonstrations lol

Thanks as always for another fine start to you comps PJ

remonstrations? KKs today a bt like the ABs, pulled out an ugly win despite tremendous pressure. Just getting started.

MM

PS: Aggregates don't matter...a very comforting thought for the $26 man Maxi today.

Thanks for the Match  Ian and your Magpie Teammates,

Nice for us Highlanders to get off to a good start against one of the favoured teams.

Thanks PJ as always.

Well done Craig congratulations to the Highlanders

I told our team earlier in the week we’re a couple of weeks away from being any threat, if there is a positive from today’s loss we’re in a position to play our triple joker😊
