PWJ
Round 4 - Saturday October 16 Race 10 - Caulfield R101st - 9 Oxley Road W-$4.40 2nd - 3 Malkovich Q-$9.70 Scr: 1,11 3 CHIEFS* (1st) $1807.00 3 (x 2 Joker play) = 6 points 2 HIGHLANDERS# (3rd) $1269.80 -1 point (unsuccessful BA play) The Chiefs had it won before the last and ended the day with collects from Stevie (who tipped the last 6 races straight) and Punter Pete (3-in-a-row). The Highlanders managed some damage control in the last when Craig bagged a BB to reel in Jack and deny the Chiefs two further points while Happy and Mardy each landed quinellas. Roughie king Gee was Man of the Match while Mardy was Otago MVP. The Chiefs successful Joker play was boosted by their team profit harvesting 6 points in total. 362.00 Stevie N 309.40 Happy 326.00 Punter Pete 421.40 Mardy 357.00 Jack 360.00 Craig 595.00 Gee 68.00 Rex 167.00 Ian 111.00 Rusty 3 FERDIES (7th) $1452.40 3 points 2 MAGPIES (2nd) $1011.00 0 points The Magpies came so close to turning the match around in the last but just missed, the dropped whip not helping. The Moody winner was selected by Roger (with a BB) and Hesi (his 4th straight winner) while Heather with a BB and Maurice with a quinella eased the Ferdies past the team profit mark for a bonus point - well played today team. Hesi was Magpies MVP while PJ, with 7 winners was Man of the Match. 287.00 Heather 157.00 Wrinkles 488.00 PJ 166.00 Rob 259.00 Zac 380.00 Hesi 294.40 Maurice 172.00 Blazes 124.00 Tom 136.00 Porky 4 SWAMP FOXES (5th) $1342.40 4 points 1 TURBOS* (4th) $1108.60 0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points The Turbos had two chances to steal it in the last but Curran's 3rd was the closest they got so the Swamp Foxes won and added two bonus points with Richie getting up to reel in Ray - for a 4-1 margin - and with a BB for Maria they took the Swampies past the team profit mark. Steve's BB was the final collect for the Turbos whose Joker play proved unsuccessful. Blind Squirrel was their MVP while Rees edged Robert for Man of the Match honours. 108.00 Von Smallhausen 48.00 Gary 294.40 Richie 267.40 Ray 362.00 Rees 224.20 Steve P 352.00 Robert 274.00 Ziggy 226.00 Maria 295.00 Blind Squirrel 2 KAURI KATS (8th) $783.40 0 points 3 BLUES (6th) $1145.20 2 points The Kats' Jigsaw never got into the finish so The Blues held on with final collects from Howie, Gordy (a BB) and Man of the Match Geoff who bagged his 3rd quinella. The Kats' old tom Graeme rounded the day out with the quinella also. Sharne was MVP for the Puddys and no bonus points were scored. The substantial missives from the respective Captains are eagerly awaited. 0.00 Jen 168.00 Gordy 56.00 Pam 449.20 Geoff 172.00 Max 127.00 Howie 286.00 Sharne 0.00 Roland 269.40 Graeme 401.00 Pete * Joker play # Black Adder play TABLE after ROUND 4 1st 12 CHIEFS* $5808.00 2nd 9 SWAMP FOXES $4136.80 3rd 6 MAGPIES $4588.00 4th 6 BLUES $4559.20 5th 6 FERDIES $4197.60 6th 5 TURBOS* $4036.40 7th 5 HIGHLANDERS# $3925.60 8th 2 KAURI KATS $3742.60 The Chiefs' successful Joker play today has allowed then to open up a 3 point lead at the top of the table with their closest pursuers now the Swamp Foxes who scored a great win today. There is another 3 points back to the pack headed by The Magpies who lost a place in defeat today, with the Blues (up two places with a win) and The Ferdies (likewise up to places in victory), only trailing on aggregate. The Turbos lost two places in defeat and spent their Joker without return while The Highlanders slumped 4 spots becoming the first to fall foul of a Black Adder deduction. The Kats lost and continue to party in the cellar. Three rounds to go and a lot could happen.

Bad luck Pies, close but no cigar, roll on next week, not too far off the pace, those Chiefs will crumple like chocolate soldiers and the Swampies will puncture a tyre. That was the making of the club, as they were a relatively new addition, and no one called them chocolate soldiers anymore The Warriors have gained respect for what they have done over the last 2 years, but not on the field yet. They are still to have their 1991, and I can't see anyway that it can happen. Still, it is great to follow, the whole shebang, promo, etc etc is superb
