The Chiefs had it won before the last and ended the day with collects from Stevie (who tipped the last 6 races straight) and Punter Pete (3-in-a-row). The Highlanders managed some damage control in the last when Craig bagged a BB to reel in Jack and deny the Chiefs two further points while Happy and Mardy each landed quinellas. The Magpies came so close to turning the match around in the last but just missed, the dropped whip not helping. The Moody winner was selected by Roger (with a BB) and Hesi (his 4th straight winner) while Heather with a BB and Maurice with a quinella eased the Ferdies past the team profit mark for a bonus point - well played today team. Hesi was Magpies MVP while PJ, with 7 winners was Man of the Match.

Steve's BB was the final collect for the Turbos whose Joker play proved unsuccessful. Blind Squirrel was their MVP while Rees edged Robert for Man of the Match honours.

The Kats' old tom Graeme rounded the day out with the quinella also. Sharne was MVP for the Puddys and no bonus points were scored. 6th 5 TURBOS* $4036.40

7th 5 HIGHLANDERS# $3925.60

8th 2 KAURI KATS $3742.60

The Chiefs' successful Joker play today has allowed then to open up a 3 point lead at the top of the table with their closest pursuers now the Swamp Foxes who scored a great win today. There is another 3 points back to the pack headed by The Magpies who lost a place in defeat today, with the Blues (up two places with a win) and The Ferdies (likewise up to places in victory), only trailing on aggregate. The Turbos lost two places in defeat and spent their Joker without return while The Highlanders slumped 4 spots becoming the first to fall foul of a Black Adder deduction. The Kats lost and continue to party in the cellar. Three rounds to go and a lot could happen.

Yep 20 mins out from last race I thought if 3 beats 9 we may have fallen over the line first.

Or maybe my maths is shite!!

No problem. Rusty would have got up but Happy would still have lost and of course you would not have won

Hard luck Highlanders, at least that BA is out the way, a very impressive square gait outfit, probably best you break into a gallop here on in

Hail the King, well done Chiefs 3 clear 3 to play Stevie still unbeaten, stay in control Stevie I know you get pumped when you are up against Max, unlucky today Jack nutted on the line, at least it was against a good bloke, rest up Chiefs it’s nice being in the Penthouse that 7-1 we took to win this comp it’s as good as banked.

Thanks PJ another top notch Saturday completed a nice total by the scorer today.

Until next week,

BTW our B52 bomber King Gee will be unloading on you Kats next week, best you guys/gals stay safely in the basement!!!

Well done Ferdies, couldn't quite snatch it off you in the last.  Wrinkly has gone into rehabilitation.

Bad luck Pies, close but no cigar, roll on next week, not too far off the pace, those Chiefs will crumple like chocolate soldiers and the Swampies will puncture a tyre.

Thanks as always PJ for another fine days entertainment

You heard it here folks

Penrith Panthers are known as the Chocolate Soldiers

Shut the gate, hang on two of the teams probably don’t understand that one, so everyone’s on a level playing field

They were indeed known as the Chocolate Soldiers Ian, when they had those awful brown tops, until they won the 91 premiership

Those jumpers were ghastly

91 GF was the first GF I attended Panthers in an upset against that star studded Green machine, Mark Geyer Greg Alexander and of course Royce Simmons who promised to shout everyone a beer 🙃

Yes, I can recall all of that Ian, and in the years leading up, they were ghastly, and why they became known as chocolate soldiers, melt when the heat went on.  That was the making of the club, as they were a relatively new addition, and no one called them chocolate soldiers anymore

The Warriors have gained respect for what they have done over the last 2 years, but not on the field yet.  They are still to have their 1991, and I can't see anyway that it can happen.

Still, it is great to follow, the whole shebang, promo, etc etc is superb
