Have to say that the Caulfield Cup TV coverage was bloody brilliant ...snappy interviews (the one with Michael Dee was a perfect example of how to let the jockey do the talking instead of the pathetic Kiwi shamateur yapping ...the footage of the strapper of Durston pounding the tabletop in a quiet side room ... these are the little nuggets that convey the thrill of being involved with throoughbred racing esp when you WIN ...so big ups to Oz TV professionals. Take a big bow.

Someone send the video to Trackside....and tell Bevan Sweeney and his buddies that those bloody stupid caps they were wearing make us look like country yokels .. on a Group 1 day, dress up not down you flockin' clowns!!

Round 6 - Sat Oct 15

Race 10 - Caulfield R9

1st -19 Durston W-$16.00

2nd - 1 Gold Trip Q-$120.50

Scr: 13,20

3 Ferdies (4th)

$886.00

2 points

2 Chiefs (1st)

$1022.20

1 point

Tassie's Gold Trip nearly pulled it off for The Chiefs but it wasn't to be and The Ferdies held on for a hard fought win with Zac Man of the Match after his inspired Everest tip edging Chiefs MVP Gee. The Waikato lads took a bonus point for a higher aggregate. No one tipped Durston

141 Maurice

58 Tassie Tiger

138 Tom

133.60 Robert

81 Heather

356 Gee

156 PJ

253.40 Lightning Blue

370 Zac

221.20 Jack

2 Swamp Foxes* (3rd)

$1024.80

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

3 Turbos (2nd)

$1085.00

2 points

Knights Order tried hard for Rees and the Joker-playing Swampies but couldn't round it off so The Turbos held on with no one finding the Waller wuffie. Maria was MVP for The Swampies and unlucky to draw Man of the Match Gary. No bonus points were earned.

126 Punter Pete

140 Steve P

251.80 Jamison

198 Ray

0 Rees

117 Ziggy

245 Our Maizcay

203 Blind Squirrel

402 Maria

427 Gary

3 Kauri Kats* (5th)

$1020.00

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

2 Highlanders*** (8th)

$983.00

0 (x 3 Triple Joker play) = -1 point

Suffice to say Micky Dee is off the Highlanders Chrissy Card List as they were poised for a 4-1 win until the final stride when they saw 12 points slip away which would have taken them into finals reckoning ! Rex labelled the Waller wuffie and snagged the Q but even that wasn't enough to give them a higher aggregate falling $38 short but earning Sir G Man of the Match honours. Captain Max was MVP for The Kats who doubled their tally with a Joker play. The Otago boys suffered a one point deduction for an unsuccessful Triple Joker play also.

175 Pam

128 Midnight Caller

181 Graeme

609 Rex

247.80 Sharne

82 Rob

367.20 Max

23 Craig

49 Jen

141 Hesi

2 Magpies* (7th)

$720.20

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

3 Blues (6th)

$832.60

2 points

Neither of the Magpies' hopes got into the finish so the Auks held on although no one unearthed the Cup winner. Gordy was Man of the Match while his opponent Ian was Magpies MVP. No bonus points were scored in a match where their were some narrow winning margins in the HTHs.

84.60 Secret Squirrel

135 Smiler

132 Stevie N

128 Pete

187 Richie

170.80 Roland

299.20 Gordy

97 Jason

105.60 Moose

TABLE after ROUND 6

The Chiefs' lead was cut by a point today as they went down to The Ferdies who moved up a place to 3rd. A win for The Turbos enabled them to hold 2nd while the Swamp Foxes dropped to 3rd after an unsuccessful Joker play. They are only two points clear (and with a superior aggregate) of the Kats and Blues who each won today to keep their Finals aspirations alive. The Highlanders could have ended the day in 2nd had Gold Trip held on but still have a mathematical chance of catching the Swamp Foxes with a 10 point Joker play in the Final Round. The Magpies sadly are out of Finals contention after going down narrowly today.

With one round to go only The Chiefs are assured of a Finals berth.

1st 24 Chiefs^ $7914.40

2nd 17 Turbos^* $8664.00

3rd 17 Ferdies^ $6603.60

6th 13 Blues*^ $6746.40

Well that was exciting!

When Gold Trip hit the front , I must admit , I let out an almighty yell!

But not to be alas , congrats to the Kats well played.

Unsure if we get anything out of today but regardless what an exciting days racing.

The Everest and Caulfield Cup both very exciting races.

Those who don't think The Everest deserves any kudos may have to reconsider.

Crowd was on fire 🔥.

Well selected Rex ,

well done mate.

Highlanders can still make the top 4 with a 10 pointer, and hope the Blues/KK's fight out a non-bonus point 3-2

Opie Bosson | From close of racing Saturday 29th October to close of racing Friday 9th December

At last the Stewards have taken decisive action, though a $1000 fine is stuff-all
still, a few Grp 1 opportunities down the gurgler

O Bosson (TIMES TICKING) - Admitted a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount TIMES TICKING to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear, crowding OLD TOWN ROAD (L Allpress) and TAVIS COURT (F Lazet) over the concluding stages with both L Allpress and F Lazet being dislodged from their mounts after the winning post as a consequence, along with D Danis (CROSS ROADS) and M Hudson (PULL NO PUNCHES) from resulting interference. After considering submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of O Bosson’s licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Saturday, 29 October up to and including racing on Friday, 9 December, 6 weeks, and in addition imposed a fine of $1000

Great to get home from a successful trip to Rotorua - a close 2nd and a great Group 3 win the next race. Huge. Then to see I had a great battle with Maria in the comp was good too. Karisma runs at Muswellbrook as was scratched Friday - they thought a storm was looming.. If she runs and wins it will cap a great weekend and bring up my 50th winas an owner.
